HEXAGRAM 2 OF 64 EARTH OVER EARTH

THE RECEPTIVE

坤 Kūn

receptivity, devotion, yielding, following a lead, the mare

ROASTIE

Six broken lines. Pure yin. The book says follow and you find your proper ground, lead and you go astray. Sweetheart, you have never led anything in your life. You once let a GPS drive you into a lake and thanked it. The Receptive isn't a reading for you, it's your résumé. Ya roasted!

THE JUDGMENT

Great success through the steady strength of a mare. Lead and you go astray; follow and you find your proper guide. Quiet firmness brings good fortune.

THE LINES, BOTTOM TO TOP

  1. Line 1 Treading on hoarfrost; the hard ice is on its way.
  2. Line 2 Straight, square, and great; without striving, nothing is lost and everything goes well.
  3. Line 3 Keeps real ability hidden but holds to it; serving others, claims no credit, yet brings the work to completion.
  4. Line 4 A sack tied shut, keeping everything inside; no blame and no praise.
  5. Line 5 A yellow lower garment, modest and correct; great good fortune.
  6. Line 6 Dragons fight in the open country; their blood runs dark and yellow.
