ROAST-O-SCOPE
- Libra season
- Waxing Crescent in Scorpio
- Venus, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto retrograde
The stars don't care about you. Roastie does, in the worst way. Pick a method, pick a dose, find your sign. The sky is computed; the contempt is freshly ground every morning.
THE METHOD
Planets, houses, aspects. Real sky, fake comfort. Shadow work, attachment styles, your mother. Fifty-minute hour, five-minute read. Lucky numbers. A stranger. A windfall. All lies, syndicated.
THE DOSE
The whole fate. He counted. One sentence. Fits in a notification. One paragraph. The reading, compressed. The whole reading. Sit down.

Aries
Crossing guard will memorize you.
At 7:52 you honk at Doreen the crossing guard, and she writes down your plate for the record.
Retired gym teacher Saturn, retrograde in your 1st house, trines Mars in your 5th house of children, and the sky has hired a crossing guard. At 7:52 Doreen raises her stop sign on Linden and holds you four minutes for one kindergartner's shoe. You honk. She writes down your plate. Tomorrow you leave at 7:30 and pass her corner at nine miles an hour, waving.
DO
- Leave by 7:30
- Roll past at nine miles an hour
- Wave at Doreen like you mean it
DON'T
- Honk in a school zone
- Explain your commute to Doreen
- Challenge Doreen to a drag race
Retired gym teacher Saturn is retrograde in your 1st house, Neptune is slumped beside him, and Mars, your ruler, has wandered off to Leo and your 5th house of children. Mars trines Saturn today, tight enough to hurt, which means the sky has hired a crossing guard. At 7:52 you will hit the school zone on Linden at your usual thirty-eight, and Doreen will raise her stop sign like Moses and hold you there for four full minutes while one kindergartner ties one shoe.
You will honk. Forty years I've read charts, and I have never once met an Aries who didn't honk. Doreen will write down your plate on a clipboard that has outlived three principals, and you will watch her do it in the rearview. For the rest of the week she will be standing on that corner at 7:51, waiting for you, sign already up.
Retrograde Venus squares Mars from your 8th house, so the intimacy department is closed for inventory; tonight someone will reach for your hand and you'll be busy checking alternate routes around Linden. There are none. Your order: leave at 7:30 tomorrow, roll past that corner at nine miles an hour, and wave at Doreen like she's your parole officer.
DO
- Leave by 7:30
- Roll past at nine miles an hour
- Wave at Doreen like you mean it
DON'T
- Honk in a school zone
- Explain your commute to Doreen
- Challenge Doreen to a drag race
Eleven screws will remain unexplained.
At 9:40 your manual-free bookshelf finally stands, leaning toward you like it has notes, with eleven screws left over.
Saturn, retrograde in your sign, wants to talk about instructions, and you are not taking questions. At 7:30 you open a flat-pack bookshelf with your keys, leave the manual in the plastic, and by 9:40 it stands, leaning toward you like it has notes. Eleven screws remain on the carpet. Your inner child conquers things and leaves the hardware for staff. Jar the screws, label it 'later,' never open it.
DO
- Jar the leftover screws
- Label the jar 'later'
- Read the meeting location
DON'T
- Order for your date
- Open the jar
- Admit the manual exists
Today's material: retired shop teacher Saturn is retrograde in your sign and would like a word about your relationship with instructions. At 10:15 a meeting invite lands, and you will accept it before reading the location, then march to the wrong building with a confidence that is clinically fascinating. Marcus texts 'we're on 4' at 10:22. You take the stairs two at a time, arrive first anyway, and log it as a victory.
Mars, your ruler, is lounging in your house of romance, so tonight's 6:00 date will feel like a race only you entered. You order for the table before they finish saying 'maybe we share,' and the check arrives at 6:48. They will call it a lovely evening. They will mean it was brief.
Which leaves time for the flat-pack bookshelf. You open it at 7:30 with your keys and a sense of destiny; the manual stays in the plastic, because reading it means admitting somebody got there first. By 9:40 it stands, leaning gently toward you like it has notes, and eleven screws remain on the carpet, unexplained. Your inner child doesn't finish things, it conquers them and leaves the screws for staff. Today's order: put the screws in a jar, label it 'later,' and never open the jar.
DO
- Jar the leftover screws
- Label the jar 'later'
- Read the meeting location
DON'T
- Order for your date
- Open the jar
- Admit the manual exists
You'll eat Gloria's name first.
You eat 'Gloria' off her retirement cake at 2:16, and she serves you the hole in front of forty people.
At 2:15 a sheet cake hits the breakroom and you hit it at 2:16, eating the rose, the balloon and the word 'Gloria' before her 3:00 retirement party. At 3:05 Gloria, gracious to the point of violence, hands you the slice with the hole in front of forty people, and they applaud her. Today's order: eat nothing with a name on it until somebody says go.
DO
- Wait for someone to say go
- Eat the hole with dignity
- Hide the fork until 3:00
DON'T
- Touch anything with lettering
- Open the microwave at :01
- Tell Gloria she was delicious
Romance is in the air, but you won't smell it over the frosting. At 2:15 a sheet cake lands in the breakroom, and you'll be on it like a cruise missile with a plastic fork. Nobody said go. Nobody ever has to. By 2:16 you've eaten the frosting rose, the frosting balloon and the word 'Gloria,' which is a problem, because the party for Gloria's twenty-two years in accounts payable starts at 3:00, and now the cake says HAPPY RETIREMENT next to a crater.
An unexpected windfall arrives at 3:05: long-memoried Scorpio Gloria figures prominently. She'll cut you a slice anyway, the exact slice with the hole in it, and hand it to you in front of forty people, and the room will applaud her grace. Congratulations. You finally caused a standing ovation, and you're the villain in it.
At 7:30 you'll race the microwave to zero and yank the door open at :01 out of pure principle, and your burrito will be lava on the outside and Antarctica in the middle, which is also how accounts payable now describes you. Avoid signing the card; your name's already on the cake, in your teeth. Today's order: eat nothing with a name on it until somebody says go. Lucky number: 0. Lucky color: frosting-on-your-chin yellow.
DO
- Wait for someone to say go
- Eat the hole with dignity
- Hide the fork until 3:00
DON'T
- Touch anything with lettering
- Open the microwave at :01
- Tell Gloria she was delicious

Taurus
Trevor's two nights become nine.
Trevor arrives at 2:40 for two nights, and by 9:00 he's molded into your couch cushion.
Backpedaling Venus, retrograde in your 7th house, drags back an old agreement: at 2:40 Trevor, a friend of a friend, reminds you that you once said he could crash anytime. Jupiter in your 4th house enlarges his duffel bag. By 9:00 he's sunk into the cushion you've been shaping since 2021, and two nights are becoming nine. Hide the cheese in the vegetable drawer.
DO
- Reread your June texts
- Hide the cheese in the vegetables
- Sit on your cushion first
DON'T
- Answer the 2:40 text
- Say 'make yourself at home'
- Give Trevor the Wi-Fi password
Backpedaling Venus, your ruler and the solar system's least reliable girlfriend, is retrograde in Scorpio in your 7th house of contracts, partners and enemies, with Mercury and the Moon crowding in behind her for the gossip. Retrograde Venus in the 7th means old agreements come back with luggage. At 2:40 a friend of a friend named Trevor will text you that back in June, after two glasses of something, you said he could 'crash anytime.' He is at the bus station.
Mars and Jupiter are both parked in your 4th house of home, and Jupiter enlarges everything it touches, including Trevor's duffel bag. He will say two nights. Jupiter says nine. Venus squares Mars today, so the moment he opens your fridge and asks whether the good cheese is 'communal,' your jaw will set like poured concrete.
Here's the cosmic joke, you magnificent load-bearing wall: for the first time in your life you have met someone who moves less than you do. By 9:00 Trevor will find the exact couch cushion you've been shaping since 2021 and settle into it like a bulb planted in October. Venus square Pluto turns this into a siege. Your order: hide the cheese in the vegetable drawer, the one place Trevor will never look.
DO
- Reread your June texts
- Hide the cheese in the vegetables
- Sit on your cushion first
DON'T
- Answer the 2:40 text
- Say 'make yourself at home'
- Give Trevor the Wi-Fi password
The delivery app will move.
Your phone moves the delivery app overnight, and by 9:02 you've opened the flashlight forty-one times instead.
Venus, your ruler, is retrograde in your house of partners, and the universe wants you to try something new. At 3:00 a.m. your phone updates itself and moves the delivery app. All day your thumb taps the old bottom-left spot and gets the flashlight. At 9:02, attempt forty-one lights your face like a confession. Tap the old spot once more, say goodbye out loud, let it go.
DO
- Say goodbye to the old spot
- Order the usual, extra sauce
- Let the icon go
DON'T
- Try the new place
- Hear the word 'change'
- Start attempt number forty-two
The material we're working with: backward-walking, commitment-allergic Venus, your ruler, is retrograde in your house of partners, which means everybody wants you to try something new and you would rather be buried in your current sweatpants. At 3:00 a.m., while you sleep the dense, untroubled sleep of a person who has owned the same pillow since 2011, your phone will update itself. Nobody asked you. That's the wound.
At 7:15 whoever currently shares your fridge suggests the new Ethiopian place 'for a change.' You hear the word change and your entire body files a grievance. By 7:40 you will have negotiated them back to your usual order, extra sauce, from the place that recognizes your voice.
But the update moved the delivery app. All day your thumb will go to the bottom left, where it has gone faithfully for six years, and open the flashlight instead. At 9:02 tonight, on the forty-first attempt, the flashlight will light your face from below like a confession, and we can finally name what's in the room: you don't resist change, you hold it hostage. Today's order: tap the old spot one last time, say goodbye out loud, and let the icon go.
DO
- Say goodbye to the old spot
- Order the usual, extra sauce
- Let the icon go
DON'T
- Try the new place
- Hear the word 'change'
- Start attempt number forty-two
Your usual gets discontinued today.
Sal's discontinues your Number 7 at 12:10, and you stand at the counter until the kid caves.
At 12:10 the kid at Sal's Deli tells you the Number 7 is discontinued, replaced by a Harvest Wrap with cranberries in it. Eleven years of turkey and provolone, gone. You order the Number 7 anyway, twice, standing there like a cow on train tracks until he makes it from memory to get rid of you. Today's order: never learn the wrap's name.
DO
- Order the Number 7 anyway
- Extort a second for later
- Write Sal in pen
DON'T
- Read the new menu board
- Debate the quarter-zip Virgo
- Forgive the cranberries
At 12:10 the kid at Sal's Deli will look you dead in the eye and say the words no Taurus should hear before lunch: 'We don't do the Number 7 anymore.' Eleven years. Turkey, provolone, the good mustard, toasted exactly once. Gone, replaced by a 'Harvest Wrap' with cranberries in it like a goddamn Thanksgiving centerpiece. You'll order the Number 7 anyway. Then again. You'll stand at that register with the serene immovability of a cow on a train track until the kid makes it from memory just to get you out of his life.
A stranger figures prominently: a quarter-zip-wearing, sandwich-agnostic Virgo behind you in line will say 'it's just a sandwich,' and compatibility will drop to zero in front of witnesses. Then an unexpected windfall: the kid, visibly frightened, charges you 2014 prices.
At 7:00 you'll get home, eat the second Number 7 you extorted 'for later,' and write Sal himself a letter, in pen, three pages, with a diagram of the mustard. Today's order: never learn the wrap's name. Learning its name is how it wins. Lucky number: 7. Lucky color: discontinued-mustard brown.
DO
- Order the Number 7 anyway
- Extort a second for later
- Write Sal in pen
DON'T
- Read the new menu board
- Debate the quarter-zip Virgo
- Forgive the cranberries

Gemini
Saturday requires both of you.
At 4:30 two Saturday 10:00 confirmations land together, a piano and a lake, and both of you said yes.
Uranus retrograde in your 1st house wakes up both of you, and neither checked the calendar. At 8:05 one of you promises Glen help with his piano Saturday at 10:00. At 4:30 Marisol confirms the lake drive you also promised, also Saturday at 10:00. Mars sextile Uranus says you'll try to do both. Pick one Saturday self tonight and let the other deliver the bad news.
DO
- Check the calendar before the mailbox
- Pick one Saturday self
- Call Glen before Marisol
DON'T
- Promise anything at the mailbox
- Map a piano-to-lake sprint
- Send the other you to apologize
Uranus, the planet of sudden reversals, is retrograde in your 1st house, which is a fancy way of saying both of your personalities wake up today and neither one checked the calendar. Mars and Jupiter are camped in your 3rd house of neighbors and short trips. At 8:05, at the mailbox, your neighbor Glen will mention a piano, a staircase and Saturday morning, and the more charming of you will say 'absolutely, count me in.'
Stern-as-a-bailiff Saturn sits in your 11th house of friends. At 4:30 two texts will land in the same minute: Glen confirming the piano for 10:00 Saturday, and Marisol confirming the drive to her sister's lake house, also 10:00 Saturday, which the other you agreed to Thursday over nachos. Mars sextile Uranus says you'll try to make both work. Mercury, your ruler, is buried in Scorpio in your 6th house of the daily grind and won't take your calls.
You will spend the evening drafting a schedule in which you lift one end of a piano, sprint ninety minutes to a lake and arrive 'basically on time.' Uranus trine Pluto says the universe finds this hilarious, and so do I. Your order: pick one Saturday self tonight and make the other one deliver the bad news.
DO
- Check the calendar before the mailbox
- Pick one Saturday self
- Call Glen before Marisol
DON'T
- Promise anything at the mailbox
- Map a piano-to-lake sprint
- Send the other you to apologize
Your past selves send packages.
At 6:10 your past selves deliver a sourdough kit and a pottery wheel, and neither of you signs.
Uranus is retrograde in your sign, so every self you outgrew is coming back up the driveway. At 6:10 the doorbell rings twice: a sourdough kit ordered by September you, a pottery wheel ordered by last-Thursday you. Neither of you signs. Clinically, a fragmented self; on your porch, strangers' hobbies with your name on them. Carry both in, set them by the ukulele, make introductions.
DO
- Carry both packages inside
- Introduce them to the ukulele
- Close one tab, any tab
DON'T
- Sign for either box
- Answer the ukulele question
- Let tomorrow-you near a checkout
What came up in today's sky: reinvention-addicted Uranus is retrograde in your sign, which means every version of you that you ever outgrew is walking back up the driveway. At 9:00 you will sit down to work and have nineteen tabs open by 9:06, each one a different person you were going to become. Mercury, your ruler, is parked in your house of daily grind, so none of them will close.
At 1:20 your oldest friend texts, 'Still doing the ukulele thing?' You will reply 'obsessed' and 'not really' in the same message, then defend both positions for twenty minutes. She'll send a single thumbs-up, and both of you will be offended by it.
Then at 6:10 the doorbell rings twice. Two packages: a sourdough kit ordered by September you, and a pottery wheel ordered by last-Thursday you. Neither of you will sign for them. In the clinical literature we'd call this a fragmented self; on your porch it's a pile of strangers' hobbies with your name on the label. Today's order: carry both inside, set them beside the ukulele, and introduce them to each other.
DO
- Carry both packages inside
- Introduce them to the ukulele
- Close one tab, any tab
DON'T
- Sign for either box
- Answer the ukulele question
- Let tomorrow-you near a checkout
Your rumor returns starring you.
Your 10:15 Olympic fencing rumor comes back at 4:30 starring you, and HR wants a holiday-party demo.
At 10:15 you tell Marcy the vending machine guy fenced in the '96 Olympics and lost to a Belgian. By 4:30 the rumor comes back improved: you're the fencer, and Denise from HR wants a demo at the holiday party. You'll say yes before your other half can veto. Today's order: buy a fencing mask, because you're getting into this.
DO
- Buy a fencing mask
- Learn the word riposte
- Thank Hal for the sword
DON'T
- Tell Marcy anything else
- Sign the party sheet
- Google which Belgian beat you
At 10:15, bored somewhere between your two personalities, you'll tell Marcy from billing that Hal, the vending machine guy, fenced in the '96 Olympics. Your other half will add a better detail: he lost to a Belgian, and he still can't look at a waffle. It's a gorgeous lie. Your finest work since you convinced the group chat you'd been on Survivor.
By 4:30 it comes back around, the way gossip always does, except now it's about YOU. You fenced. You lost to the Belgian. You don't like to talk about it. Misty-eyed party enforcer Denise from HR will stop at your desk and ask for a 'little demo' at the holiday party, and you'll say yes before your other half can veto it.
A near-stranger figures prominently tonight: Hal, who heard, and who leaves a foam sword under your windshield wiper at 6:45 with a note reading 'en garde, legend.' Avoid signing contracts, especially the holiday-party sign-up sheet. Today's order: buy a fencing mask, because you're not getting out of this, you're getting into it. Lucky number: 96. Lucky color: Belgian-victory gold.
DO
- Buy a fencing mask
- Learn the word riposte
- Thank Hal for the sword
DON'T
- Tell Marcy anything else
- Sign the party sheet
- Google which Belgian beat you

Cancer
You'll buy nine popcorn tins.
At 5:15 a gap-toothed eight-year-old says 'it's for camp,' and you leave owning nine popcorn tins.
The Moon, your ruler, sits in your 5th house of children and squares Jupiter in your 2nd house of money. At 5:15 an eight-year-old with a missing front tooth brings a laminated popcorn order form to your desk and says 'it's for camp.' You buy nine tins the size of paint cans. Stack them on the kitchen counter and pretend that was the plan.
DO
- Fill out the form legibly
- Stack the tins on the counter
- Act like nine was planned
DON'T
- Ask how many she's sold
- Make eye contact at 5:15
- Name all nine tins
Overemotional nightlight the Moon, your ruler, is a 9% crescent in Scorpio in your 5th house of children, and she is squaring Jupiter in your 2nd house of money. Lunar feelings, Jovian checkbook. At 5:15 a coworker's daughter, eight years old and missing one front tooth, will walk up to your desk with a laminated order form for scouting popcorn and say the three most dangerous words in your chart: 'it's for camp.'
You will buy nine tins. Not because you want popcorn, Cancer. Nobody on God's earth wants caramel corn in a tin the size of a paint can. You'll buy them because she'll mention she has 'only sold two,' and your lower lip will start operating independently of the rest of your face. Mars also sits in your 2nd house, so there is no brake pedal; Jupiter makes it nine instead of one.
Retrograde Saturn in your 10th house of career will make sure your manager walks past at the exact moment you're asking the child whether she's eaten. Mercury and Venus in your 5th keep the whole romance going, which means you will have named every tin by 8:00 tonight. Your order: stack all nine on the kitchen counter and pretend that was the plan all along.
DO
- Fill out the form legibly
- Stack the tins on the counter
- Act like nine was planned
DON'T
- Ask how many she's sold
- Make eye contact at 5:15
- Name all nine tins
Gus will answer for Marisa.
At 9:12 you revive a group chat dead since 2021, and the only reply is Gus, who inherited Marisa's number.
With the Moon squaring Jupiter, the past gets bigger and you get softer. At 9:12 you send 'miss you guys!!' into a group chat dead since 2021. Forty minutes later the only reply arrives, from Gus, who inherited Marisa's number: 'who is this.' By 11:00 you know about his tomatoes. Your attachment style isn't anxious, it's adoptive. Add Gus to the birthday list. He's family now.
DO
- Add Gus to the birthday list
- Ask about the tomatoes
- Let Doug leave in peace
DON'T
- Make Doug a slideshow
- Scroll past 2019
- Invite Gus to Thanksgiving
Today's session material: that moody little nightlight the Moon, your ruler, is a thin waxing crescent in your house of romance, squaring Jupiter, which inflates whatever it touches. In your case, that's the past. At 8:30 a.m. you'll scroll back to 2019 in a group chat called 'Brunch Girlies Forever,' whose last message, from June 2021, is one blurry photo of a mimosa.
At 2:00 Doug from accounting mentions he might move to Denver next spring. You will begin saying goodbye immediately: a card by 2:30, a slideshow by 4:00, and one long, meaningful look across the printer that Doug will describe to HR as 'unclear.'
At 9:12 you'll finally send 'miss you guys!!' into the dead chat. Silence for forty minutes, then one reply, from a man named Gus who inherited Marisa's number: 'who is this.' By 11:00 you'll know about his tomatoes, his ex and his opinion on tow trucks. Your attachment style isn't anxious; it's adoptive. Today's order: add Gus to the birthday list. He's family now, and he gets no vote.
DO
- Add Gus to the birthday list
- Ask about the tomatoes
- Let Doug leave in peace
DON'T
- Make Doug a slideshow
- Scroll past 2019
- Invite Gus to Thanksgiving
Zillow will gut your childhood.
Your childhood house hits Zillow at 11:20, height-mark wall gone, and by 9:00 you're one-starring a house.
At 11:20 your childhood house shows up on Zillow, 'fully reimagined': the kitchen wall with your pencil height marks is now a waterfall island and a sign that says GATHER. By 9:00 you're writing a one-star review of a house and reading it to your mother on speaker. Today's order: close the app before you find the bathroom photos.
DO
- Close the app by noon
- Hug a doorframe you own
- Keep the call under twenty minutes
DON'T
- Price out buying it back
- Zoom in on the fire pit
- Comment 'monsters' on the listing
At 11:20 trouble will find you the way it always finds a crab: through the phone you were checking for no reason. It's your childhood house, on Zillow, 'fully reimagined.' The new owners went open concept, those monsters. The kitchen wall with your height marks on it, pencil, 1994 through 2003? Gone. In its place: a waterfall island and a sign that says GATHER in a font that should be in prison.
An unexpected windfall: none. Instead you'll spend your lunch hour on all forty-one photos, zooming in on the backyard where the tire swing was, now a fire pit strung with Edison bulbs, and you'll seriously price out buying the place back. It's listed at $940,000. You have $212 and a jar of quarters labeled BEACH.
Romance is in the air tonight, but at 9:00 you'll be on the couch writing a one-star review of a house, which Zillow will not let you post, so you'll read it to your mother on speaker for twenty-two minutes while she says 'honey' at intervals. Today's order: close the app before you find the bathroom photos. Lucky number: 940,000. Lucky color: GATHER-sign farmhouse gray.
DO
- Close the app by noon
- Hug a doorframe you own
- Keep the call under twenty minutes
DON'T
- Price out buying it back
- Zoom in on the fire pit
- Comment 'monsters' on the listing

Leo
Neighbors vote to adjourn you.
At 7:22 retired dentist Phil moves to adjourn during your lifeguard story, and the neighbors vote unanimously.
Mars and Jupiter in your 1st house hand you a microphone and a fog machine, and the Sun, your ruler, sends you to the neighbors in your 3rd house. At 7:00 the association meets about one speed bump. At 7:22, mid-lifeguard story, retired dentist Phil moves to adjourn, and it passes unanimously while your index card is still raised. Wave at Phil tomorrow, warmly.
DO
- Bring exactly one index card
- Mention the speed bump
- Wave at Phil warmly tomorrow
DON'T
- Stand for a quick point
- Bring up the lifeguard summer
- Bow when the motion passes
Mars and Jupiter are both sitting in your 1st house, which is like handing a microphone and a fog machine to the person who was already going to give a speech. The Sun, your ruler, is in Libra in your 3rd house of neighbors and sextiles Jupiter, so the cosmos is practically shoving you toward the folding chairs. At 7:00 tonight the neighborhood association meets in the library basement to discuss one speed bump on Elm.
You will stand for 'just a quick point.' Mars trine Saturn gives you stamina; Jupiter gives you a second, third and seventh quick point. At 7:22, somewhere around your story about the summer you lifeguarded, a retired dentist named Phil, who has waited his whole damn life for this, will move to adjourn. The motion will pass unanimously while you are still holding your index card up for emphasis.
Retrograde Venus squares Mars from your 4th house, so nobody at home will ask how it went, and you will tell them anyway, standing in the kitchen doorway, with gestures, until 9:15. The speed bump passes without you. Your order: tomorrow morning, wave at Phil first, warmly, so he knows exactly what he did.
DO
- Bring exactly one index card
- Mention the speed bump
- Wave at Phil warmly tomorrow
DON'T
- Stand for a quick point
- Bring up the lifeguard summer
- Bow when the motion passes
The team will get credit.
At 3:05 the all-staff email thanks 'the team' for your idea, and by 3:20 you've replied-all with a timeline.
Jupiter is enlarging everything in your sign, starting with your ego. At 9:04 you pitch moving the Friday sync to Thursday, and the room nods. At 3:05 the all-staff email thanks 'the team' for it. By 3:20 you've replied-all with a timeline and two screenshots. Clinically, it's a deep wound around the first-person plural. Say 'we' out loud once, in an empty room, and survive.
DO
- Say 'we' in an empty room
- Let the team have Thursday
- Bow to the shampoo only
DON'T
- Hit reply-all
- Reenact the nod
- Write 'per my shower'
Today's material: planetary hype man Jupiter is sitting in your sign next to Mars, so your ego leaves the house with its own security detail. At 7:45 you'll rehearse a modest proposal for the 9:00 meeting, moving the Friday sync to Thursday, in the shower, with hand gestures, and take a bow for the shampoo.
At 9:04 you pitch it. The room nods. At 12:30 you will explain the nod to two friends at lunch, in detail, with a reenactment of the nod, and Dee will say 'love that for you' in the voice people use for toddlers holding a rock.
Then at 3:05 the all-staff email arrives: 'Huge thanks to the team for the Thursday idea.' The team. A word with no spotlight in it. By 3:20 you will have replied-all with a timeline, two screenshots and a phrase you'll regret until spring: 'per my shower.' What we're looking at clinically is a deep wound around the first-person plural. Today's order: say the word 'we' out loud once, in an empty room, and survive it.
DO
- Say 'we' in an empty room
- Let the team have Thursday
- Bow to the shampoo only
DON'T
- Hit reply-all
- Reenact the nod
- Write 'per my shower'
News crew airs your elbow.
You pose near a news camera for forty minutes, and Channel 7 airs three seconds of your elbow.
At 10:40 a news crew shoots B-roll at the farmer's market, and you spend forty minutes laughing at nothing near the lens. At 6:00 you text everyone to watch Channel 7, where you appear for three seconds as an elbow beside Big Doug, a prize zucchini who gets a close-up and a name. Today's order: do not comment 'that's my elbow.'
DO
- Stand behind the zucchini
- Lead with the good elbow
- Let Big Doug have this
DON'T
- Text everyone to watch
- Hold tomatoes like Hamlet
- Comment 'that's my elbow'
At 10:40 a local news van will pull into the farmer's market to shoot B-roll for a squash segment, and you, a sun-worshipping walking headshot, will hear the word 'camera' from three stalls away. You'll stroll past the lens eleven times. You'll lift an heirloom tomato and study it like Hamlet with the skull. You'll laugh, alone, at nothing, head thrown back, for forty minutes.
At 6:00 you'll text everyone you've ever met to watch Channel 7. The segment runs ninety seconds. You're in three of them, as an elbow, out of focus, beside a prize zucchini named Big Doug, who gets a close-up, his name on screen and a better jawline than you. Your mother will reply 'which one is you.'
Romance is in the air, but all of it's for Big Doug: by 8:30 the station's Facebook post has 2,400 likes and every single comment is about the zucchini. Compatibility: high with produce, low with you. Today's order: do not comment 'that's my elbow' under the post. Lucky number: 3. Lucky color: out-of-focus elbow beige.
DO
- Stand behind the zucchini
- Lead with the good elbow
- Let Big Doug have this
DON'T
- Text everyone to watch
- Hold tomatoes like Hamlet
- Comment 'that's my elbow'

Virgo
Hall closet will bury Kevin.
At 6:40 Kevin opens your hall closet instead of the bathroom, and three years of secret chaos bury him.
Mercury, your ruler, sends a drop-in through your 3rd house while Mars and Jupiter swell your 12th house of secrets. At 6:40 Kevin returns your casserole dish, needs the bathroom, and opens the hall closet instead. Three years of extension cords and unlabeled tote bags bury him. He'll stand there holding one ski boot. Label it in front of him, like it was always the system.
DO
- Tape a sign on the bathroom
- Take the casserole dish at the door
- Label the ski boot
DON'T
- Let Kevin past the foyer
- Mention his spreadsheet formatting
- Correct how Kevin fell
Mercury, your ruler, is in Scorpio in your 3rd house of short trips and drop-ins, and the Moon and retrograde Venus are riding along with him, which means someone is coming over today, unannounced, with good intentions. Meanwhile war-and-excess twins Mars and Jupiter are lurking in your 12th house of secrets. You know what your 12th house is, Virgo. It has a door. It's in the hallway.
At 6:40 Kevin from the old office will stop by to return a casserole dish you lent him in March, which has been on your laminated reminder list since April. He will need the bathroom. He will open the wrong door. Jupiter has been enlarging that hall closet for three years: the tangled extension cords, the forty unlabeled tote bags, the dead printer you swore to hell you'd recycle. It comes down on Kevin like a rockslide on a mountain pass.
Retrograde Saturn in your 8th house says Kevin will walk away unhurt and never emotionally recover, because for eleven years you corrected his spreadsheet formatting. He will stand in your hallway holding one ski boot, looking at you. Your order: label the ski boot, right there, in front of him, as though it was always part of the system.
DO
- Tape a sign on the bathroom
- Take the casserole dish at the door
- Label the ski boot
DON'T
- Let Kevin past the foyer
- Mention his spreadsheet formatting
- Correct how Kevin fell
Leah will catch you reloading.
At 8:13 you secretly reload the dishwasher Leah just loaded, and at 8:14 she watches it all in the window.
With Mars and Jupiter in your house of secrets, today's control freak operates covertly. At 8:10 Leah insists on loading your dishwasher, and you let her, because growth. At 8:13 she's in the bathroom and you're reloading every plate. At 8:14 she's watching your reflection in the dark kitchen window. Control dressed as hospitality. Leave one bowl facing the wrong way and breathe near it.
DO
- Let Leah load it
- Leave one bowl wrong
- Hand over the basil
DON'T
- Correct the basil tearing
- Foot the recycling bin
- Make eye contact with the window
Let's look at what the sky brought in: cosmic fussbudget Mercury, your ruler, is in your house of neighbors and short errands, while Mars and Jupiter loiter in your house of secrets. Translation: you will do something controlling, and you will do it where nobody can see. At 8:20 a.m. the neighbor's recycling bin will sit eleven inches onto your side of the curb. You'll nudge it back with your foot, twice, while pretending to study the sky.
At 6:30 Leah arrives for dinner and asks, warmly, how she can help. You'll hand her a task so small it's basically ceremonial: tearing basil. She'll tear it wrong. You'll say 'perfect' with your mouth and something else entirely with your eyebrows.
At 8:10 Leah insists on loading the dishwasher, and you let her, because growth. At 8:13, while she's in the bathroom, you will reload every plate. At 8:14 she'll be standing in the hall, watching your reflection in the dark kitchen window, holding a bowl you missed. In session we'd call this control dressed up as hospitality. Today's order: leave one bowl facing the wrong way and breathe near it.
DO
- Let Leah load it
- Leave one bowl wrong
- Hand over the basil
DON'T
- Correct the basil tearing
- Foot the recycling bin

You will interrogate Bev's dip.
You interrogate Bev's seven-layer dip at the 12:30 potluck, and the whole office eats it at you.
At 12:30 you interrogate Bev's unlabeled seven-layer dip at the office potluck, demanding a date, a location and the chain of custody on layer four. By 12:41 Bev is crying into a paper plate and the department eats her dip at you, in solidarity. You eat one olive. Today's order: apologize with something sealed and visibly dated.
DO
- Eat the olive layer only
- Buy Bev something sealed
- Compliment the lasagna, vaguely
DON'T
- Ask about layer four
- Annotate the chili flyer
- Request the guacamole's paperwork
At 12:30 the office potluck opens and a Taurus figures prominently: compliance department dip artisan Bev, who brings her seven-layer dip in a bowl with no lid, no label and no date. You'll ask when it was made. You'll ask where. You'll ask, out loud, in front of the lasagna, whether layer four is sour cream or 'a sour cream situation.' Then you'll request the chain of custody on the guacamole.
By 12:41 Bev will be crying into a paper plate, and the whole department will eat her dip out of solidarity, aggressively, while making eye contact with you. You'll eat one chip's worth of the top layer, the olives, the only layer you can personally verify, and it will be the loneliest olive in America.
At 7:00 a stranger will knock with a flyer for the building's chili cook-off, and you'll take it inside and write questions in the margins until 9:15. Avoid signing anything that says 'bring a dish.' Today's order: apologize to Bev with something store-bought, sealed and visibly dated. Lucky number: 7. Lucky color: layer-four mystery white.
DO
- Eat the olive layer only
- Buy Bev something sealed
- Compliment the lasagna, vaguely
DON'T
- Ask about layer four
- Annotate the chili flyer
- Request the guacamole's paperwork

Libra BIRTHDAY SEASON
Jess joins the returns line.
At 12:43 Jess joins the returns line behind you, and you pay eleven dollars more for the same mustard cardigan.
Venus, your ruler, is retrograde in your 2nd house of possessions, which means returns. At 12:40 you're at the desk with the mustard cardigan Jess gave you Saturday. Mars and Jupiter in your 11th house of friends put Jess in line behind you at 12:43. Eleven minutes of graceful lying later, you've paid eleven dollars more for the same cardigan. Wear it tomorrow where she can see.
DO
- Return things after 5:00
- Love the mustard cardigan
- Wear it where Jess can see
DON'T
- Turn around at 12:43
- Say 'drapes better' twice
- Ask Jess what she's returning
Happy birthday season, you beautifully dressed weathervane. The Sun is in your 1st house and sextile Jupiter, so the gifts are pouring in, but Venus, your ruler, is retrograde in Scorpio in your 2nd house of possessions, and retrograde Venus in the 2nd means one thing: returns. At 12:40, on your lunch break, you'll be standing at the returns desk with the mustard cardigan Jess gave you Saturday, receipt warm in your hand.
Mars and Jupiter sit in your 11th house of friends, which is astrologer for 'friends appear at the worst possible moment, larger than life.' At 12:43 Jess will get in line directly behind you, holding her own shopping bag, and say your name with the delight of a woman about to learn something. Venus squares Mars. You will not have a plan.
What follows is eleven minutes of the most graceful lying the zodiac has ever produced: you're only exchanging it for the same cardigan, in mustard, one size up, because it 'drapes better' and you love it too much to have it fit wrong. Retrograde Saturn in your 7th house makes Jess stay to watch. You will pay eleven dollars more for the identical sweater. Your order: wear it tomorrow, somewhere Jess will see you.
DO
- Return things after 5:00
- Love the mustard cardigan
- Wear it where Jess can see
DON'T
- Turn around at 12:43
- Say 'drapes better' twice
- Ask Jess what she's returning
The wrong salmon will arrive.
At 1:15 the wrong salmon arrives, and you call it perfect, eat every bite and tip twenty-five percent.
Venus is retrograde in your house of self-worth, so today you'll pay extra not to be a bother. At 1:15 the waiter sets down salmon. You ordered the burger. He asks how everything is, and you say 'perfect,' eat the salmon you hate, smiling, and tip twenty-five percent. People-pleasing with a side of fennel. Send one thing back before sundown. A fork. Start small.
DO
- Send back one fork
- Say the word 'burger' aloud
- Pick a deadline, either one
DON'T
- Tell the waiter 'perfect'
- Call the bangs 'bold'
- Apologize to the salmon
Today's material: it's your season, the Sun is in your sign, and retrograde-and-pouting Venus, your ruler, is backing through your house of money and self-worth, so the universe will check what you're willing to pay to avoid being a bother. At 9:30 a friend texts a photo of her new bangs and begs for honesty. You'll reply 'bold!!' 'so you' and 'obsessed,' three words with a combined meaning of zero.
At 11:00 two managers will give you two deadlines for the same deck, Thursday and Monday. You'll nod at both, thank both, and send each a calendar hold that politely implies the other one doesn't exist.
At 1:15 the waiter sets down salmon. You ordered the burger. He asks, 'How is everything?' and you will hear yourself say 'Perfect, thank you,' then eat the salmon you hate, slowly, smiling, and tip twenty-five percent for the privilege. In the work we'd call this people-pleasing with a side of fennel. Today's order: send one thing back before sundown. A fork. A napkin. Start small.
DO
- Send back one fork
- Say the word 'burger' aloud
- Pick a deadline, either one
DON'T
- Tell the waiter 'perfect'
- Call the bangs 'bold'
- Apologize to the salmon
'Anything' earns you three signs.
You tell three friends 'anything is fine,' and by 7:00 you own three LIVE LAUGH LOVE signs.
At 11:00 three friends separately ask what you want for your birthday, and you tell all three 'anything is fine.' By 7:00 you unwrap three uncoordinated driftwood signs reading LIVE LAUGH LOVE, and say 'I love it' three times with three different faces. Today's order: say one specific noun out loud before next October.
DO
- Name one actual object
- Hang one sign, rotate monthly
- Say 'I love it' convincingly
DON'T
- Say 'anything is fine'
- Send anyone a list
- Return one; the sign will know
Happy birthday season, you fence-sitting, beige-curating crowd-pleaser. At 11:00 three friends will ask, separately, what you want this year, and you'll tell all three 'oh, anything is fine,' because naming one actual object might upset someone, somewhere, possibly the object. One of them will send a list of options. You'll reply that they're all perfect.
By 7:00 the universe will take you literally. You'll unwrap three identical driftwood signs that say LIVE LAUGH LOVE, from three people who did not coordinate, which means three separate humans looked at your entire life and saw that. You'll say 'I love it' three times, with three slightly different faces, and mean none of them.
An unexpected windfall: a gift receipt in the third bag at 9:20, and you'll spend until midnight deciding whether returning it would hurt the sign's feelings. Avoid signing contracts, especially the unspoken one where you hang all three. Today's order: say one specific noun out loud before next October. Lucky number: 3. Lucky color: Live Laugh Love driftwood gray.
DO
- Name one actual object
- Hang one sign, rotate monthly
- Say 'I love it' convincingly
DON'T
- Say 'anything is fine'
- Send anyone a list
- Return one; the sign will know

Scorpio
Hannah's muffin triggers full investigation.
At 9:30 Hannah leaves you a 'just because' muffin, and by 4:50 you're the only one who investigated.
The Moon, Mercury and retrograde Venus crowd your 1st house, and your suspicion clocks in early. At 9:30 Hannah leaves a muffin on your desk with a note: 'just because.' By 1:15 you've cross-checked her handwriting and polled two coworkers. At 4:50 you learn everyone got one, and you're the only one who opened an inquiry. Eat the muffin in full view, slowly, as diplomacy.
DO
- Take the muffin at face value
- Eat it in full view
- Thank Hannah before noon
DON'T
- Compare her handwriting
- Poll coworkers about Hannah
- Bag the muffin as evidence
The Moon, Mercury and retrograde Venus are all crammed into your 1st house, so your face, your mouth and your suspicion are working triple shifts, while Pluto, your ruler, is retrograde in your 4th house digging up the basement. Mars and Jupiter loom over your 10th house of career. At 9:30 a blueberry muffin will appear on your desk with a yellow sticky note in the handwriting of Hannah from accounts: 'just because.'
Nobody does shit just because, and Mercury in Scorpio knows it. By 11:00 you will have compared the sticky-note handwriting against her expense reports. By 1:15 you'll have asked two coworkers, casually, whether Hannah has 'mentioned anything.' Venus square Pluto means you will not eat the muffin; you'll seal it in a sandwich bag like evidence and lock it in your drawer.
At 4:50 you'll learn Hannah's kid had a bake sale, the leftovers went to all forty people on the floor, and you are the only one who opened an inquiry. Retrograde Saturn in your 6th house of work routine makes sure Hannah heard about it from both coworkers before you did. Your order: eat the muffin at your desk, in full view, slowly, as an act of diplomacy.
DO
- Take the muffin at face value
- Eat it in full view
- Thank Hannah before noon
DON'T
- Compare her handwriting
- Poll coworkers about Hannah
- Bag the muffin as evidence
Neighbor will say your name.
At 6:40 the man from 3B says goodnight using your first name, and you investigate until finding your own mailbox.
With the Moon, Mercury and Venus crammed into your sign, today's investigation targets you. At 6:40 the man from 3B holds the lobby door and says goodnight using your first name. You've never told anyone here your name. By 11:00 you've audited the package shelf and his whole online footprint. The source: your mailbox. Being known sends you to the bunker. Learn his name and say it back.
DO
- Learn 3B's name
- Say it back normally
- Answer 'how was your weekend'
DON'T
- Audit the package shelf
- Go dark until Friday
- Sand your name off the mailbox
The material we're working with: the Moon, Mercury and Venus have all crowded into your sign like detectives into a small kitchen, and your brooding underworld landlord Pluto is retrograde in your house of home. At 10:00 a coworker asks how your weekend was, and you'll answer 'fine' with the energy of a sealed indictment. She'll back away slowly. You'll file the question for later analysis.
At 2:15 someone you've been quietly tracking for weeks views your story within forty seconds. Venus, retrograde and in a mood, will have you decide by 3:00 that this is a power move, and by 3:05 you'll respond with the only weapon you trust: not posting again until Friday.
At 6:40 the man from 3B holds the lobby door and says goodnight using your first name. You have never told anyone in this building your name. By 11:00 you'll have audited the hallway, the package shelf and his entire online footprint before finding the source: your name, printed on your own mailbox. You're comfortable knowing everything about everyone; it's being known that sends you to the bunker. Today's order: learn his name and say it back like a normal person.
DO
- Learn 3B's name
- Say it back normally
- Answer 'how was your weekend'
DON'T
- Audit the package shelf
- Go dark until Friday
- Sand your name off the mailbox
Bluetooth will play your secret.
Your menacing ride with Theo ends at 8:06 when the Bluetooth blasts 'Dancing Queen,' and he loves it.
At 8:05 you give new coworker Theo a ride in your best menacing silence, and at 8:06 the Bluetooth blasts 'Dancing Queen' at volume 38 from your playlist titled MY LITTLE SUNSHINE MIX. Theo says 'oh, fun!' which is worse than screaming. Today's order: rename the playlist something sinister before Theo gets back in.
DO
- Rename the playlist tonight
- Unpair your phone before 8:05
- Hit the harmony Friday
DON'T
- Offer anyone a ride
- Explain the sunshine mix
- Call ABBA 'ironic' out loud
With the Moon parked in your sign like an unmarked car, you'll offer the new guy, Theo, a ride at 8:05, and you'll drive in total, weaponized silence, because silence is your whole brand, you black-turtlenecked, long-game-playing creature of the night. Theo will be visibly intimidated. Good. Excellent. Then your phone will connect to the Bluetooth.
At 8:06 'Dancing Queen' will erupt at volume 38 from exactly where you left it last night, followed by the rest of a playlist titled MY LITTLE SUNSHINE MIX, followed by the Mamma Mia 2 cast recording. Theo will say 'oh, fun!' and that will be so much worse than if he'd screamed. By lunch, the whole floor knows you have a little sunshine.
Romance is in the air: Theo will add you to a carpool chat called Dancing Queens and invite you to karaoke Friday. At 6:30 a stranger at the gas station will hear 'Waterloo' through your closed windows and give you a thumbs-up. That's the mystique, gone, and it's playing in your car. Today's order: rename the playlist something sinister before Theo gets back in. Lucky number: 38. Lucky color: Mamma Mia sequin gold.
DO
- Rename the playlist tonight
- Unpair your phone before 8:05
- Hit the harmony Friday
DON'T
- Offer anyone a ride
- Explain the sunshine mix
- Call ABBA 'ironic' out loud

Sagittarius
Your Portuguese meets a Brazilian.
At 8:15 you claim fluent Portuguese on the 41 bus, and Rafael from Belo Horizonte is overjoyed.
Jupiter, your ruler, swells your 9th house of foreign languages while the Moon squares him. At 8:15 on the 41 bus you tell a stranger you're basically fluent in Portuguese. You've done eleven days on an app. He's Rafael from Belo Horizonte, overjoyed, and he talks about his grandmother's farm until you've caught four words. Say 'obrigado' with total confidence and give him a pizza place's number.
DO
- Sit alone on the 41
- Say 'obrigado' with confidence
- Nod at his punctuation
DON'T
- Claim fluency before 9:00
- Ask Rafael to slow down
- Give Rafael your real number
Supersizing Jupiter, your ruler, is in Leo in your 9th house of foreign languages and big beliefs, with Mars standing beside him holding a megaphone. The Moon squares Jupiter today, so your confidence is enormous and your facts are not. At 8:15 on the 41 bus a stranger will ask if the seat is taken, and you will, for reasons no investigator could reconstruct, mention that you're 'basically fluent in Portuguese.'
You have done eleven days on an app. The stranger's name is Rafael. He is from Belo Horizonte. He has not spoken Portuguese to anyone in four months, and he will light up like a stadium and begin telling you, in rapid, joyful detail, about his grandmother's farm, while you nod and say 'sim' at intervals that do not match his punctuation.
Mercury and the Moon are hiding in your 12th house of secrets, and the secret is that you've understood four words: grandmother, farm, cow, Tuesday. Retrograde Saturn in your 5th house sits on your fun like a disappointed chaperone and makes Rafael ask for your number so you can practice every week. Your order: say 'obrigado' with total confidence and give him the number of a pizza place.
DO
- Sit alone on the 41
- Say 'obrigado' with confidence
- Nod at his punctuation
DON'T
- Claim fluency before 9:00
- Ask Rafael to slow down
- Give Rafael your real number
Stylist will ask about November.
At 4:15 your stylist asks to book six weeks out, and you claim you'll be in Peru, which you won't.
Jupiter, your ruler, is in your house of travel, so commitment looks like a cage today. At 4:15, mid-haircut, the stylist asks to book your next one: six weeks, Tuesday the twenty-fourth. You'll say you might be in Peru. You won't. By midnight there are nine Lima tabs open. Avoidant attachment to November. Book the trim, write it in pen, tell no one in Peru.
DO
- Book the trim
- Write it in pen
- Close the Lima tabs
DON'T
- Say 'obviously' about March
- Mention Peru to anyone
- Pack a bag for the haircut
Today's material: galactic loudmouth backpacker Jupiter, your ruler, is in your house of travel with Mars, while the Moon, Mercury and Venus hide in your house of secrets. Commitment will come at you from three directions today, and you'll meet each one reaching for a passport you don't have on you. At 10:30 your manager says 'let's revisit next quarter,' and you'll feel the walls lean in.
At 1:00 your friend Imani announces she's booked a cabin for March and is 'counting on you.' You will say 'obviously!' with your whole face while the rest of you is already halfway up a volcano in a country you'll name later.
Then at 4:15, mid-haircut, the stylist asks the most frightening question in the damn language: 'Want to book your next one? Six weeks, Tuesday the twenty-fourth?' You'll say you might be in Peru. You will not be in Peru. By midnight you'll have nine Lima tabs open and a haircut that requires a calendar to maintain. Clinically, this is avoidant attachment to the month of November. Today's order: book the trim, write it in pen, and tell no one in Peru.
DO
- Book the trim
- Write it in pen
- Close the Lima tabs
DON'T
- Say 'obviously' about March
- Mention Peru to anyone
- Pack a bag for the haircut
Two-year contract triggers fire alarm.
A clerk says 'two-year agreement' at 2:30, and your emergency-exit escape empties the entire strip mall.
At 2:30 a phone store clerk named Jordan says 'two-year agreement,' and at 2:31 you leave through the EMERGENCY ONLY door, emptying the whole strip mall, including a Cinnabon, into the parking lot. Jordan keeps your old phone and your half-signed name. Today's order: go back for the phone, and use the regular door.
DO
- Fix the screen with tape
- Use the regular door
- Wave at the evacuees
DON'T
- Hear the word 'agreement'
- Go past your initials
- Ask Cinnabon for forgiveness
Avoid signing contracts. It's the oldest line in the checkout-aisle book, and today it's practically a restraining order. At 2:30 you'll walk into a phone store to fix one cracked screen, and a bright-eyed clerk named Jordan will warmly say the two most terrifying words in your entire commitment-proof vocabulary: 'two-year agreement.'
You will not hear the rest. The walls will close in like a mortgage on a houseboat. At 2:31 you'll leave through the door marked EMERGENCY ONLY, setting off an alarm that empties the entire strip mall into the parking lot, including a Cinnabon mid-glaze. Forty people will stand in the sun because you couldn't commit to a phone plan, while Jordan holds your old phone, a half-signed agreement and a look of real betrayal.
At 6:00 the mall's security footage hits the neighborhood app captioned WHO IS THIS, and you'll lie low behind your cracked screen, which still works, which you'll now keep forever, because forever doesn't need a signature. Today's order: go back for your old phone, and use the regular door. Lucky number: 24. Lucky color: emergency-exit red.
DO
- Fix the screen with tape
- Use the regular door
- Wave at the evacuees
DON'T
- Hear the word 'agreement'
- Go past your initials
- Ask Cinnabon for forgiveness

Dev gets a thirty-seven-cent request.
At 9:10 someone suggests splitting evenly, and at 10:02 Dev gets your request for thirty-seven cents.
Saturn, your ruler, is retrograde in your 4th house rechecking old books, and Mars trines him from your 8th house of shared money. At tonight's eight-person Thai dinner, someone says 'split it evenly.' You itemize instead. By 9:40 you're alone at the table, and at 10:02 Dev receives a request for thirty-seven cents, memo: 'rice.' Send it anyway. You've earned it.
DO
- Itemize the rice
- Calculate tip pre-tax
- Send the request at 10:02
DON'T
- Agree to split evenly
- Share the mango sticky rice
- Round anything down for Dev
Strictest-accountant-in-the-cosmos Saturn, your ruler, is retrograde in your 4th house rechecking old books, and Mars trines him from your 8th house of shared money. That is the sky handing a calculator to the one person who never needed encouragement. The Moon, Mercury and Venus fill your 11th house of friends, so tonight there's a group dinner at 7:30: eight people, one long table, the Thai place on Fifth.
When the check arrives at 9:10, someone will say 'let's just split it evenly,' and Jupiter in your 8th house will enlarge that sentence into a personal insult. You will pull out your phone. You will itemize. You will remember who had the extra rice. Mercury in Scorpio makes you precise enough to bill Dev for the two bites of your mango sticky rice, valued at thirty-seven cents after tax.
By 9:40 everyone else will have paid evenly and gone outside, and you will still be at the table, alone, calculating tip on pre-tax totals. At 10:02 Dev will receive a payment request for thirty-seven cents with the memo 'rice.' Retrograde Saturn in your 4th house says the walk home will be very quiet and very correct. Your order: send the request anyway. You've earned it.
DO
- Itemize the rice
- Calculate tip pre-tax
- Send the request at 10:02
DON'T
- Agree to split evenly
- Share the mango sticky rice
- Round anything down for Dev
Spa day becomes LinkedIn post.
At 11:40, still in the spa hot tub, you draft a LinkedIn post about what it taught you about Q4.
Saturn is retrograde in your house of home and your friends have staged an intervention called a day off. At 11:00 Tomás and Bea lower you into a spa hot tub like a reluctant lobster. By 11:40, still submerged, you've drafted a LinkedIn post: 'What a Hot Tub Taught Me About Q4 Pipeline.' You can't soak without a deliverable. Stay in until you prune, and post nothing.
DO
- Stay in until you prune
- Let Tomás hold your phone
- Leave the junk drawer alone
DON'T
- Edit your auto-reply
- Sort batteries by voltage
- Tag the hot tub
What came up in today's sky: cosmic middle manager Saturn, your ruler, is retrograde in your house of home, while the Moon, Mercury and Venus gang up in your house of friends. Your friends have staged an intervention, and it's called 'a Tuesday off.' At 7:00 a.m. you'll wake without an alarm, make the bed with hospital corners, and then sit on it to check whether work misses you.
It doesn't. At 9:30 your out-of-office reply will fire back at a vendor, and you'll reread your own auto-reply four times, editing it in your head. By 10:15 you'll have reorganized the junk drawer by voltage, which is not rest. It's a quarterly review of batteries.
At 11:00 Tomás and Bea will lower you into a spa hot tub like a reluctant lobster. At 11:40, still submerged, you'll have drafted a LinkedIn post titled 'What a Hot Tub Taught Me About Q4 Pipeline,' with three bullet points and a chosen selfie angle. In clinical terms, productivity is your favorite defense; in plain terms, you can't sit in warm water without a deliverable. Today's order: stay in until your fingers prune, and post nothing.
DO
- Stay in until you prune
- Let Tomás hold your phone
- Leave the junk drawer alone
DON'T
- Edit your auto-reply
- Sort batteries by voltage
- Tag the hot tub
You'll chair the Halloween committee.
Your 9:30 'promotion' makes you chair of the Halloween Committee, and Skip spends your budget on fog.
At 9:30 your boss says 'promotion,' and for one second you see a corner office. Then she finishes: you're chair of the Halloween Committee, party in eighteen days. By 11:00 Skip, who 'does voices,' leads a 3–1 vote to blow your whole budget on a fog machine. Today's order: say 'spooky' out loud once, without air quotes.
DO
- Approve the fog machine
- Say 'spooky' without air quotes
- Let Skip do one voice
DON'T
- Build a costume rubric
- Tell your mother the title
- Go as Q4 projections
An unexpected windfall at 9:30: your boss will call you in and say 'promotion,' and for one glorious second you'll see a corner office, a title with 'Senior' in it and a parking spot even closer to the building you already sleep in. Then she'll finish the sentence. You're the new chair of the Halloween Committee. The party is in eighteen days.
By 11:00 you'll have built a budget spreadsheet with seven tabs, and the committee, three people from marketing and a guy named Skip who 'does voices,' will vote 3–1 to blow all of it on a fog machine. A costume is mandatory. You'll propose 'business casual.' They'll counter with 'fun.' You'll go as a slightly looser accountant and hate every second of it.
At 8:00 your mother will call, hear the word 'committee' and tell you she's never been prouder, which is the cruelest thing that will happen to you all year. Compatibility: high with Skip, tragically. Today's order: approve the fog machine and say 'spooky' out loud once, without air quotes. Lucky number: 18. Lucky color: fog-machine-rental orange.
DO
- Approve the fog machine

Aquarius
Brad will out-weird you today.
At 10:15 you get paired with plain-chicken Brad, and by 12:30 he's revealed bees, theremins and Antarctica.
Pluto and the North Node in your 1st house mean the universe is repossessing your personality. Mars and Jupiter in your 7th house of partners pair you at 10:15 with Brad: khakis, phone holster, plain chicken. By 12:30 Brad has mentioned his bees, his homemade theremins and his Sunday ham-radio friend in Antarctica. Ask Brad how to get into bees. The weird one has been decided.
DO
- Ask Brad about the bees
- Take notes at lunch
- Concede the weird title
DON'T
- Explain things in small words
- Bring the cities printout
- Claim theremins were your idea
Pluto and the North Node are both in your 1st house, which astrologers call a destiny-level transformation of the self and which I call the universe coming to repossess your personality. Uranus, your ruler, is retrograde in Gemini in your 5th house of creativity, so your originality is running in reverse today. Mars and Jupiter sit in your 7th house of partners, and at 10:15 your manager will pair you for the quarter with Brad.
Brad wears khakis with a phone holster. Brad eats plain grilled chicken from the same glass container every day. You'll spend the 11:00 kickoff explaining your ideas to him in small words, like a visiting anthropologist. Then at 12:30, over lunch, Mercury in your 10th house of career will let Brad mention that he keeps bees, builds theremins from salvaged parts and talks every Sunday by ham radio to a guy at a research station in Antarctica.
Uranus trine Pluto turns the afternoon into a slow-motion identity crisis. At 3:00 the whole floor will cluster around Brad's theremin photos while you stand behind them holding a printout of your opinions about cities. Your order: ask Brad, sincerely, how to get into bees, and accept that the weird one in this pairing has been decided.
DO
- Ask Brad about the bees
- Take notes at lunch
- Concede the weird title
DON'T
- Explain things in small words
- Bring the cities printout
- Claim theremins were your idea
Feelings question gets broadband answer.
At 7:45 your date asks what you're feeling, and you answer with twenty minutes on municipal broadband.
Uranus, your ruler, is retrograde in your house of romance, so the feelings are coming and you'll try to peer-review them. At 7:45, over dumplings, your date asks what you're feeling. You answer with twenty minutes on municipal broadband, plus a napkin diagram. They say 'wow' twice, unromantically both times. Textbook intellectualization. Name one emotion out loud. Not a policy. An emotion.
DO
- Name one emotion aloud
- Let the hug finish
- Answer the mood poll
DON'T
- Draw on the napkin
- Mention fiber versus cable
- Cite your sources at dinner
Today's material: Pluto and the North Node are both camped in your sign, and your sideways-spinning ruler Uranus is retrograde in your house of romance, which is astrology's way of saying the feelings are coming and you will try to peer-review them. At 11:00 your team's Slack poll asks everyone to rate their mood from one to five. You'll reply asking what the scale is normed against, and collect a thumbs-down from HR.
At 5:30 a friend hugs you hello. You'll stand there like a coat rack receiving a coat, pat her twice on the shoulder blade, and say 'good to see you, physically,' which you will replay at 2:00 a.m. as data.
At 7:45, over dumplings, your date will lean in and ask, softly, 'What are you feeling right now?' You will answer, at length, about municipal broadband. Twenty minutes. Fiber versus cable. A diagram on a napkin. They will say 'wow' twice, and neither one will be romantic. This is called intellectualization, and you're so good at it you could teach the seminar. Today's order: name one emotion out loud. Not a policy. An emotion.
DO
- Name one emotion aloud
- Let the hug finish
- Answer the mood poll
DON'T
- Draw on the napkin
- Mention fiber versus cable
- Cite your sources at dinner
Smart house refuses your face.
Your open-source smart house refuses your face at 6:10, and you sleep in the garage on principle.
At 6:10 your self-built, open-source smart house looks at your face and declines, and the porch light blinks twice, which in your own firmware means 'stranger.' You refuse Gail's couch on principle and sleep in the garage until 1:30, reading a 2019 forum thread that ends 'nvm fixed it.' Today's order: buy a regular key and tell nobody in your Discord.
DO
- Buy one regular key
- Take Gail's couch
- Unplug the porch light
DON'T
- Update the firmware tonight
- Call it a moral position
- Lecture your date via doorbell
At 6:10 you'll come home to the smart house you built yourself, on open-source software you've described to every dinner guest as 'basically a moral position,' and the front-door camera will look at your face and decline. Not error. Decline. The porch light will blink twice, which in the firmware you personally wrote means 'stranger.'
Help comes from an unexpected quarter: your neighbor Gail, who owns a regular lock and a regular key like some kind of medieval peasant, will offer you her couch. You'll refuse on principle and sleep in the garage, which still recognizes you because it runs the old version. You'll spend until 1:30 on a forum thread from 2019 whose last reply is 'nvm fixed it' with no explanation.
Romance is in the air: your 8:00 date will text 'here!' from your porch and get greeted by your own recorded voice from the doorbell, explaining decentralization for four minutes on a loop. She'll listen to the whole thing. Somehow that's worse. Today's order: buy one regular key and tell nobody in your Discord. Lucky number: 404. Lucky color: unrecognized-face blue.
DO
- Buy one regular key
- Take Gail's couch
- Unplug the porch light
DON'T
- Update the firmware tonight
- Call it a moral position
- Lecture your date via doorbell

Pisces
Your wallet will be frozen.
At 7:45 your wallet goes in the freezer, and at 12:20 you try paying for soup with peas.
Neptune, your ruler, is retrograde in your 2nd house of possessions beside retrograde Saturn, and your stuff drifts. At 7:45, mid-lighthouse dream, the wallet goes in the freezer and the frozen peas go in your tote. At the 12:20 register you hand the cashier the peas. Lena pays for your soup. The wallet turns up at 8:10 beside the waffles. Repay Lena in thawed cash.
DO
- Check your tote at 7:46
- Look in the freezer first
- Repay Lena in thawed cash
DON'T
- Interpret the lighthouse dream
- Pack your bag half-asleep
- Insist peas are legal tender
Neptune, your ruler and the patron saint of fog, is retrograde in Aries in your 2nd house of possessions, right next to retrograde Saturn, patron saint of consequences. When those two share the house where you keep your stuff, your stuff starts drifting. At 7:45 this morning, still halfway inside a dream about a lighthouse, you will put your wallet in the freezer and a bag of frozen peas in your tote.
Mars and Jupiter are both in your 6th house of the daily grind, which makes the 12:20 lunch line enormous, fast and unforgiving. You'll reach the register, reach into your tote with total confidence, and hand the cashier a bag of slightly thawed peas. She will look at the peas. You will look at the peas. Lena from the next desk will pay for your soup with the face of a woman deciding never to lend you anything again.
The Moon, Mercury and Venus are drifting through your 9th house of faraway places, so you'll spend the afternoon wondering whether the lighthouse meant something. Neptune sextile Pluto says it did not. At 8:10 tonight you'll open the freezer for ice and find your wallet beside the waffles, cold, intact and judging you. Your order: pay Lena back in cash that has fully thawed.
DO
- Check your tote at 7:46
- Look in the freezer first
- Repay Lena in thawed cash
DON'T
- Interpret the lighthouse dream
- Pack your bag half-asleep
- Insist peas are legal tender
You'll accidentally lead the rebrand.
At 2:30 you mumble 'the brand should be more like water,' and Linda makes you lead the rebrand.
Mars and Jupiter barge into your house of daily work, and you'll be on a houseboat. At 2:30, forty minutes into the quarterly meeting, Linda says your name twice. You surface and offer, sincerely, 'What if the brand were more like water?' By 2:45 you're leading the rebrand, due Friday. Escapism has never been promoted this fast. Bring a notebook. Write real words in it, not boats.
DO
- Bring a notebook to meetings
- Write real words, not boats
- Answer Linda the first time
DON'T
- Name the forty-dollar rock
- Follow the cello man
- Promise the brand will be wet
Today's session material: fog machine Neptune, your ruler, is retrograde in your house of money, while Mars and Jupiter barge into your house of daily work. Reality will try to clock in today, and you'll be somewhere else. At 8:20, on the train, you'll invent a full three-act life for a stranger with a cello case, and feel genuinely abandoned when he gets off at Elm.
At 12:40 a gift shop will sell you a forty-dollar rock labeled 'Abundance.' You'll pay with the card that has, ironically, the least of it, and name the rock before you reach the register.
At 2:30, forty minutes into the quarterly meeting, you'll be on a houseboat in your head, learning to whittle. Linda will say your name twice. You'll surface and offer, with total sincerity, 'What if the brand were more like water?' The room goes quiet, Jupiter does its enlarging thing, and by 2:45 you're leading the rebrand, due Friday. Escapism has never been promoted this fast. Today's order: bring a notebook to every meeting and write real words in it, not boats.
DO
- Bring a notebook to meetings
- Write real words, not boats
- Answer Linda the first time
DON'T
- Name the forty-dollar rock
- Follow the cello man
- Promise the brand will be wet
Palm reader will rename you.
A $20 palm reader says you were Venetian courtesan Serafina, and by 7:30 you won't answer to anything else.
At 4:45 Madame Rosalind, a $20 palm reader in the back of a vape shop, tells you you were Serafina, a Venetian courtesan who ruined three dukes. By 6:00 you own a gondolier hat, and by 7:30 you stop answering to your own name. Today's order: answer to your real name once before midnight, even if it feels like a demotion.
DO
- Answer to your name once
- Eat dinner at seven
- Keep the hat receipt
DON'T
- Book the past-life follow-up
- Call the parking lot a canal
- Sign work emails 'S.'
At 4:45 a stranger will change your life, which for you is a standard Tuesday-at-4:45 event. Madame Rosalind, palm reader, $20 cash, operating out of the back of a vape shop, will hold your hand for nine seconds and announce that in a past life you were Serafina, a Venetian courtesan who ruined three dukes and one very sincere gondolier.
You will believe this instantly and completely, you damp, suggestible little mood ring. By 6:00 you'll own a gondolier hat from the party store, and by 7:30 you'll stop answering to your own name. When your roommate calls you for dinner, you'll gaze at the parking lot like it's the Grand Canal and murmur, 'Serafina doesn't eat at seven.'
An unexpected windfall, for Madame Rosalind: at 9:00 she'll text offering a 'past-life follow-up' for $60, and you'll send $80, because Serafina tips. Tomorrow you'll sign a work email 'S.' and nobody will ask. Today's order: answer to your real name once before midnight, even if it feels like a demotion. Lucky number: 80. Lucky color: haunted-velvet burgundy.
DO
- Answer to your name once
- Eat dinner at seven
- Keep the hat receipt
DON'T
- Book the past-life follow-up
- Call the parking lot a canal
- Sign work emails 'S.'

HOW THE SAUSAGE IS MADE The astrology is real. The astrologer is a bean.
THE SKY IS COMPUTED, NOT VIBED. Every morning, before you are conscious, a machine runs the Swiss Ephemeris. That is the planetary engine behind most serious astrology software, built on the same orbital math astronomers use, which the astronomers would like you to stop bringing up. It fixes the Sun, the Moon, Mercury through Pluto and the Moon's North Node at 17:00 UTC, lunchtime on the East Coast, in the tropical zodiac, as seen from Earth. The positions are good to about an arcsecond. A horoscope needs about a degree. We brought a surgical laser to a pie fight.
RETROGRADES ARE MEASURED. A planet is retrograde here because its computed speed is negative today, not because someone on your feed said Mercury was "doing something." When the chips at the top say nothing is retrograde, nothing is. Astrologers find that suspicious. So do we.
THE MOON GETS THE FULL TREATMENT. Phase and percent lit, from the real angle between the Sun and the Moon. Which sign she is in, and if she changes sign today, the minute she does it. This is more attention than the Moon has ever gotten from you.
THE ASPECTS ARE THE CLASSICAL FIVE. Conjunction, sextile, square, trine, opposition: Ptolemy's set, the one every astrologer has used since the second century. We allow six degrees of orb, four for the sextile, which is a weak aspect and knows it. That is tighter than a birth chart, because a daily column only cares what is happening today. They are listed tightest first in the panel above, so you can check the work. You won't.
THE HOUSES ARE WHOLE-SIGN, COUNTED FROM YOUR SUN SIGN. This is the solar-chart trick, and it is how every newspaper horoscope since the 1930s has faked a birth chart for a million strangers at once. Your sign is the first house, the next sign is the second, and so on around the wheel. So when the Classical says Venus is retrograde in your seventh house, that is arithmetic: Venus is in that sign, that sign is seven signs from yours, and the seventh house is partners and enemies, a distinction your sign has never managed. Each sign also carries its element, its modality and its ruling planet, the furniture the genre has used for two thousand years, with the modern rulers. Pluto rules Scorpio. Scorpio chose that itself.
THEN THE BEAN READS IT. The sky goes to Roastie as a written report and he works from it, under the one rule a real columnist is supposed to follow and rarely does: use the sky that is there. Never invent a planet, a transit or a retrograde that isn't. He may leave things out. He may not make things up. The Classical has to be correct to the report, naming the planets, houses and aspects in play for your sign that day. The Psychological takes one planet or the Moon as the material we're working with. The Tabloid barely looks up, which is the point: it is a parody of the checkout-aisle column, and the checkout-aisle column never looked up either.
ONE FATE, FOUR SIZES. He writes the Full Beating for each sign first, then cuts the Jab, the One-Liner, Five Words and the Do / Don't from it. Switching the dose opens the same prophecy up or down. It never changes what happens to you. Nothing changes what happens to you.
WHAT IT ISN'T. A birth chart. This is a sun-sign column, same as the one in the paper: no birth time, no rising sign, no natal anything. It knows your sign and the sky and nothing else, which is still more than your family knows. Whether any of it means anything is a separate question, and the same one you should have been asking your regular horoscope. The difference is that here the math is in the open. Check it against any ephemeris you like. The positions will match. The interpretation is where we part ways with the universe.
Not advice. Not anything you can sue over. The planets are real (Swiss Ephemeris); the interpretation is a bean with a grudge. How it's built. The Classical · The Psychological · The Tabloid written Tuesday, October 13, 2026.
