ROAST-O-SCOPE
- Scorpio season
- Waning Gibbous in Gemini
- Moon into Gemini today
- Mercury, Venus, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune retrograde
The stars don't care about you. Roastie does, in the worst way. Pick a method, pick a dose, find your sign. The sky is computed; the contempt is freshly ground every morning.
THE METHOD
Planets, houses, aspects. Real sky, fake comfort. Shadow work, attachment styles, your mother. Fifty-minute hour, five-minute read. Lucky numbers. A stranger. A windfall. All lies, syndicated.
THE DOSE
The whole fate. He counted. One sentence. Fits in a notification. One paragraph. The reading, compressed. The whole reading. Sit down.

You'll hold eighteen deli tickets.
Saturn retrograde in your sign slows the deli line, and you'll pull tickets until you're holding eighteen numbers.
Saturn retrograde in your 1st house parks the planet of delays right on your personality. At the deli counter this afternoon you'll pull a number, decide it's moving wrong, and pull another, and another, until you're holding eighteen tickets and the guy behind the glass makes you order for every one. Venus retrograde in your 7th says don't describe it to your partner as a hostage situation. Take one number. Stand there.
DO
- Take exactly one number
- Order for all eighteen
- Answer a sibling's text slowly
DON'T
- Pull a second ticket
- Rank loved ones by walking speed
- Yell your number before it's called
With hall-monitor Saturn retrograde in your sign and parked in your 1st house, delays aren't happening around you today. They're happening in you. Expect to take each one personally. At the deli counter this afternoon you'll pull a number, decide the line is moving wrong, and pull another to speed it up, which is not how numbers work. When the guy behind the glass calls 41, you'll be holding 41 through 58, and he'll make you order for every one.
Backpedaling Venus, retrograde in Libra in your 7th house, walks your partnerships in reverse, while Mercury squares your ruler Mars and puts an edge on every sentence. A partner may ask how your day went. Resist the urge to describe the deli as a hostage situation. This is not the day to rank the people you love by how fast they walk.
The Moon in Gemini sextiles Saturn from your 3rd house, so a sibling or a neighbor may offer the one mercy today's sky allows: patience, by text. Neptune, also retrograde in your sign, blurs urgent and loud until you can't tell them apart. Nothing is on fire. Mars in Leo wants a trophy for speed, and there isn't one. Pull one ticket and stand there.
DO
- Take exactly one number
- Order for all eighteen
- Answer a sibling's text slowly
DON'T
- Pull a second ticket
- Rank loved ones by walking speed
- Yell your number before it's called
Two-week deadline dies by lunch.
Your manager says 'no rush' this morning, and you kill a two-week deadline before she finishes her salad.
With Saturn retrograde in your sign, the universe asks you to slow down, and you take it personally. Your manager says 'no rush' this morning, and you hear a dare: the two-week project lands in her inbox before she finishes her salad. Then the afternoon is empty and you spend it tapping the printer tray like it owes you money. Homework: press one crosswalk button once tonight, and wait.
DO
- Eat lunch at normal speed
- Leave the weekend unplanned
- Press the crosswalk button once
DON'T
- Treat 'no rush' as a dare
- Answer emails nobody sent
- Make the printer apologize
The material we're working with today is slow-walking hall monitor Saturn, retrograde in your sign. That's the cosmos asking you to slow down, and you will experience it as an assault. This morning your manager hands you a project and says the two most destabilizing words in your vocabulary: no rush. What comes up for you is not relief. It's a dare. By lunch the two-week deadline is dead, the deliverable is in her inbox, and she hasn't finished her salad.
This afternoon you have nothing to do, and we should name what that is for you: an empty room with a loud clock. Watch the urgency go looking for a new host. You'll reorganize the supply closet at a jog, answer emails nobody has sent yet, and stand at the printer tapping the tray like it owes you money.
After work, someone you love says 'let's figure out the weekend later,' and you'll hear a starting pistol. By dinner the weekend is planned, booked and half regretted. Your homework: at one crosswalk tonight, press the button once, then wait through a full light without touching it again.
DO
- Eat lunch at normal speed
- Leave the weekend unplanned
- Press the crosswalk button once
DON'T
- Treat 'no rush' as a dare
- Answer emails nobody sent
- Make the printer apologize
Your bookshelf will become stairs.
You'll skip the instructions on tonight's flat-pack bookshelf, and it'll come out a staircase with three screws left over.
A flat box arrives today, Allen wrench taped to the side like a dare. You won't read the instructions, because instructions are written by cowards. By tonight the bookshelf is a staircase, three screws are left over, and you'll climb it anyway to prove a point to nobody. Romance at work turns out to be the IT guy, here about your password. Read page one of something today, even a cereal box.
DO
- Open the instruction booklet
- Count the screws first
- Let the hiking group catch up
DON'T
- Reply before reading the memo
- Eat everyone's trail mix
- Climb the bookshelf to the ceiling
A flat box arrives today. Heavy. Ominous. Allen wrench taped to the side like a dare. You will not read the instructions, because instructions are bullshit written by cowards and Virgos. By tonight the bookshelf is a staircase, three screws are left over, and you'll climb it anyway to prove a point to nobody.
Romance is in the air at work. It's the IT guy, and he's here about your password, which is still WINNER1. A coworker will type 'per my last email.' You will hear a starting pistol. A promotion is forecast for whoever reads the memo first. It won't be you; you replied before opening it. Avoid signing contracts; you'll sign before the pen's cap comes off.
A friend suggests a casual hike after work. There is no casual. You'll summit forty minutes ahead of the group and eat their trail mix at the top, out of spite and altitude. Compatibility: high with Leo, zero with anyone holding a map. Read page one of something today, even a cereal box. Lucky number: 3, the leftover screws. Lucky color: drywall-patch white.
DO
- Open the instruction booklet
- Count the screws first
- Let the hiking group catch up
DON'T
- Reply before reading the memo
- Eat everyone's trail mix
- Climb the bookshelf to the ceiling

Thermostat will get a lockbox.
Retrograde Venus squares Pluto in your career house, and your thermostat war ends with management locking it in a box.
With couch-bound Venus retrograde in your 6th house of the daily grind and squaring Pluto in your career house, office comfort becomes a power struggle. You'll nudge the thermostat up two degrees all morning, somebody will nudge it back, and by afternoon management locks it inside a plastic box while you stand there in your coat. Skip the space heater that costs more than the bill. Put on a sweater.
DO
- Put on the sweater
- Concede the two degrees
- Leave the space heater shelved
DON'T
- Touch the thermostat again
- Reopen last winter's argument
- Proof bread in your living room
With couch-bound Venus, your ruler, retrograde in Libra in your 6th house of the daily grind and squaring Pluto in your 10th, comfort at work turns into a power struggle with management. Expect the office thermostat to be the hill you die on. You'll nudge it up two degrees all morning, somebody will nudge it back, and by afternoon management locks it inside a plastic box while you stand there in your coat.
Mars and Jupiter, both in Leo in your 4th house of home, turn the home front into a furnace. Tonight you'll make up for it by setting the house to a temperature usually reserved for proofing bread. With Mercury retrograde in your 7th, a partner may reopen last winter's thermostat argument word for word. Resist the urge to win it by refusing to leave the warm spot on the couch.
The Moon, freshly out of your sign and into Gemini in your 2nd house of money, makes your wallet restless and your logic worse. Be wary of a space heater in your cart that costs more than the bill you're protesting. Saturn, retrograde in your 12th, keeps a quiet record of every degree. You lost to a plastic box. Put on a sweater.
DO
- Put on the sweater
- Concede the two degrees
- Leave the space heater shelved
DON'T
- Touch the thermostat again
- Reopen last winter's argument
- Proof bread in your living room
You'll occupy the couch's ghost.
Someone moves the couch three feet, and you spend tonight on the floor where it used to be.
With Mars in your home house, the trouble comes through the furniture: someone moves the couch three feet this morning to 'open up the room.' What comes up isn't an opinion. It's grief for the spot. So you'll sit on the carpet where it used to be, remote in hand, facing an angled TV, calling it relaxing. Homework: one sitcom episode on the couch, in its new location, no 'it was fine before.'
DO
- Sit on the relocated couch
- Try the new taco place
- Watch one full episode there
DON'T
- Say 'it was fine before'
- Steer lunch back to the burrito
- Mark the old spot with tape
The material today is the chart's two worst roommates, Mars and Jupiter, both camped in your home house, which means trouble arrives through the furniture. Early this morning someone you live with moves the couch three feet to 'open up the room.' I want you to notice what comes up, because it won't be an opinion about the room. It'll be grief for the spot. You'll sit on the floor where the couch used to be, holding the remote, facing a television that is now at an angle, and call this 'just relaxing.'
At work, with Venus retrograde in your daily-grind house, a coworker suggests the new taco place for lunch. You'll agree out loud, then somewhere between the elevator and the sidewalk steer the whole group back to the burrito you've ordered every week for six years. Nobody will notice how you did it. That's the part that should worry you.
Tonight the couch is still in its new spot and you're still on the carpet, lower back aching with principle. Nobody is asking you to surrender. The couch is a couch. Your homework: sit on it, in its new location, for one full sitcom episode, and do not say 'it was fine before.'
DO
- Sit on the relocated couch
- Try the new taco place
- Watch one full episode there
DON'T
- Say 'it was fine before'
- Steer lunch back to the burrito
- Mark the old spot with tape
Sample lady will ban you.
You'll lap the Costco sample loop eleven times this afternoon, get banned by the dumpling lady, and return in a hat.
An unexpected windfall arrives on toothpicks at Costco. You'll lap the sample loop eleven times, dumpling, spinach dip, dumpling, until the sample lady stops handing you a cup and just looks at you. By afternoon you're banned; ten minutes later you're back in a hat and sunglasses, telling her it's your first time here. Somebody at home asks about dinner, and you ate forty-one. Take one dumpling. One.
DO
- Take one dumpling
- Grab an actual cart
- Leave before the third lap
DON'T
- Tell her it's your first time
- Make eye contact with the hot-dog counter
- Come back in sunglasses and a hat
An unexpected windfall arrives on toothpicks. Costco, Wednesday, sample day. You'll lap the loop eleven times, dumpling, spinach dip, dumpling again, until the sample lady stops handing you a cup and simply looks at you. By afternoon you're banned. Ten minutes later you're back in a hat and sunglasses, telling her it's your first time here.
Romance is in the air, and it smells like a pallet of croissants. A stranger will ask if you're in line. You are not in line. You live here now. A man with a flatbed cart will try to make small talk about tires, and you'll keep chewing at him until he leaves. Compatibility: high with Cancer, highest with the free-sample cart.
Money matters come to a head when the membership renewal email lands; you'll call it a donation and keep scrolling. Avoid the hot-dog counter; it knows your face too. Somebody at home will ask what's for dinner. You'll say 'I ate.' You ate forty-one dinners, one toothpick at a time. Take one dumpling. One. Lucky number: 41, toothpicks. Lucky color: spinach-dip green.
DO
- Take one dumpling
- Grab an actual cart
- Leave before the third lap
DON'T
- Tell her it's your first time
- Make eye contact with the hot-dog counter
- Come back in sunglasses and a hat

Gemini
Hygienist will suction your gossip.
Retrograde Mercury in your health house turns your teeth cleaning into a feud recap, and the hygienist cranks the suction.
Backtalking Mercury, your ruler, is retrograde in your 6th house of health and squaring Mars and Jupiter, so your mouth gets busiest exactly when it's least available. At this morning's teeth cleaning you'll narrate a whole neighborhood feud, both sides, around two metal instruments, and the hygienist answers by turning up the suction. Neighbors get no sequel this afternoon. Open wide and say nothing.
DO
- Open wide
- Let the suction win
- Wave at neighbors silently
DON'T
- Tell the feud both ways
- Start sentences you can't finish
- Mime the rest of the feud
With backtalking Mercury, your ruler, retrograde in Scorpio in your 6th house of health and routine, and squaring Mars and Jupiter, everything you say today comes out bigger than the room can hold. Expect your mouth to be busiest exactly when it's least available. At this morning's teeth cleaning you'll narrate a whole neighborhood feud, both sides, around two metal instruments, and the hygienist will answer by turning up the suction.
Mars and Jupiter, both in Leo in your 3rd house of neighbors and texting, give every porch conversation a sequel. A neighbor may wave this afternoon. Resist the urge to tell him the version of the feud you told the hygienist, because it isn't the version you told the neighbor on the other side.
The Moon and Uranus sit together in your sign, scrambling a head that was already double-booked, while the Moon sextiles Saturn, retrograde in your 11th, so friends will be slow to text back. That's the sky protecting them. This is not the day to start a sentence you can't finish. When the chair tips back, open wide and say nothing.
DO
- Open wide
- Let the suction win
- Wave at neighbors silently
DON'T
- Tell the feud both ways
- Start sentences you can't finish
- Mime the rest of the feud
Carpool silence will break you.
A coworker who likes driving in silence gives you a ride, and you're narrating billboards by the first red light.
The Moon sits on Uranus in your sign, and the restlessness has nowhere to go. A coworker gives you a ride this morning and says she likes to drive in silence. You last until the first red light, then narrate every billboard, including both sides of a debate about a lawyer's teeth. Homework: tomorrow, in her passenger seat, one full song, zero commentary.
DO
- Accept the ride anyway
- Count red lights silently
- Pick one carpool version
DON'T
- Read billboards aloud
- Tell two carpool stories
- Critique a lawyer's teeth
The twitchy, ninety-one-percent-lit Moon is in your sign today, parked right on top of Uranus, which gives us a lot of restless material to work with. This morning a coworker offers you a ride and mentions, kindly, that she likes to drive in silence. I'd like you to notice what happens in your body around the first red light. You will last about ninety seconds. Then you'll begin narrating the billboards, and by the highway you'll be doing both sides of a debate about a personal-injury lawyer's teeth.
What we're looking at is a fear of the quiet, and specifically of who's in it. At lunch you'll tell two different friends two different versions of the carpool, one where she was rude and one where you bonded, and you'll perform both with total conviction. Neither friend asked.
Late tonight the house goes quiet, and you'll run a video essay, a show and a group chat at the same time, so no single thought can get you alone. Your homework: tomorrow, in her passenger seat, stay silent for one full song, and don't comment on the song afterward.
DO
- Accept the ride anyway
- Count red lights silently
- Pick one carpool version
DON'T
- Read billboards aloud
- Tell two carpool stories
- Critique a lawyer's teeth
Your rumor will come home.
You'll start a rumor at work this morning, and by afternoon it comes back about you and the break-room couch.
With the gossip-lamp Moon parked in your sign, your mouth is a public utility. Before lunch you'll start a rumor that the break-room couch is getting tossed, just to watch it travel. It travels. By afternoon it comes back upgraded: the couch is going because of something you did on it, and facilities is staring. Tell no one anything until Friday.
DO
- Sit on a different couch
- Tell no one anything
- Deny it with dignity
DON'T
- Trade rumors at the vending machine
- Screenshot the sourdough guy
- Explain what happened on the couch
With the gossip-lamp Moon parked in your sign, your mouth is now a public utility. Before lunch you'll start a tiny rumor at work, that the break-room couch is getting tossed, just to clock how fast it travels. It travels. By afternoon it comes back to you, upgraded: the couch is going because of something you did on it.
A friend will tell you a secret. Time of death: the elevator. An unexpected windfall: a coworker offers a rumor about the vending machine, and you'll trade it for three more. An old acquaintance resurfaces online with a sourdough starter and a new laugh, and you'll screenshot both for a group chat that muted you in August.
Romance is in the air, but it's on speakerphone. Somebody from facilities will now look at you the way you look at that couch. Avoid any sentence that starts with 'don't tell anyone.' Compatibility: high with Sagittarius, low with anyone who has ever sat on that couch. Tell no one anything until Friday. Lucky number: 2, faces, both talking. Lucky color: break-room-carpet brown.
DO
- Sit on a different couch
- Tell no one anything
- Deny it with dignity
DON'T
- Trade rumors at the vending machine
- Screenshot the sourdough guy
- Explain what happened on the couch

Lawn skeleton will get blankets.
Retrograde Venus in your home house means the lawn skeleton gets a fleece blanket, a hat, and a companion skeleton.
Retrograde Venus in your 4th house of home runs your Halloween decorating backward from scary to tender. Before work the lawn skeleton gets a fleece blanket and a knit hat, and with the Moon in your 12th you'll check on it from your desk. After work you'll buy it a second skeleton so it has company. Let the skeleton be cold.
DO
- Leave the skeleton exposed
- Walk past the Walgreens aisle
- Turn the porch light off
DON'T
- Knit anything for decor
- Buy the skeleton a friend
- Check its temperature from work
With soft-hearted Venus retrograde in Libra in your 4th house of home, your Halloween decorating runs backward from scary to tender. Before work, the lawn skeleton you put up this week gets a fleece blanket, then a knit hat, then the porch light left on so it isn't frightened. By tonight it's the least scary thing on the block, beaten by the neighbor's inflatable cat.
Mood-swinging Moon, your ruler, sits in Gemini in your 12th house of secrets beside Uranus, so expect a sudden private urge to check the doorbell camera from your desk to make sure it's warm. With the Moon sextile Saturn in your 10th, nobody at work will notice, which is the only break the sky is offering.
Mars and Jupiter, both in Leo in your 2nd house of money, inflate anything you buy on feeling. Be wary of the Halloween aisle at Walgreens after work, where you'll pick up a second skeleton so the first one has company. This is not the day to tuck anything in. Let the skeleton be cold.
DO
- Leave the skeleton exposed
- Walk past the Walgreens aisle
- Turn the porch light off
DON'T
- Knit anything for decor
- Buy the skeleton a friend
- Check its temperature from work
A 'hm' will cancel tonight.
A coworker says 'hm' about your draft, and by evening you've canceled dinner, citing a long week.
With the Moon hiding in your twelfth house, the shell comes down fast. A coworker reads your draft this morning and says 'hm,' one syllable, no follow-up, and by lunch your camera's off. By evening you've canceled dinner with friends, citing a long week. It is Wednesday. Homework: ask her what the 'hm' meant, and accept 'nothing' as a complete sentence.
DO
- Ask what 'hm' meant
- Turn your camera back on
- Show up to dinner
DON'T
- Rewrite unflagged paragraphs
- Cite a long week
- Replay the 'hm' in accents
Your ruler, the Moon, the sky's moodiest night-light, is in your twelfth house today, the wing of the chart reserved for hiding, which is a clinical name for your bedroom. This morning a coworker reads over your draft and says 'hm.' One syllable. No follow-up. I want you to watch how quickly the shell comes down, because it will be faster than the elevator. By lunch your camera is off, your status says 'heads down,' and you've rewritten a paragraph she never pointed at.
This afternoon, friends confirm tonight's dinner, and you'll text back 'so excited!!' with two exclamation points, which is exactly how you sound right before you cancel. By the end of the workday you're citing 'a long week.' It is Wednesday.
Late tonight you'll be under three blankets, replaying the 'hm' in different tones like a hostage negotiator with the tape. The Moon sextiles Saturn, which means the real answer is boring and available. Your homework: tomorrow, ask her what the 'hm' meant, and accept 'nothing' as a complete sentence.
DO
- Ask what 'hm' meant
- Turn your camera back on
- Show up to dinner
DON'T
- Rewrite unflagged paragraphs
- Cite a long week
- Replay the 'hm' in accents
Drugstore run will cause homesickness.
You'll get homesick nine minutes from your house in a Walgreens, and call home to find it's fine without you.
A short trip is forecast. Do not take it. You'll drive nine minutes to Walgreens for cotton balls, and near the greeting cards homesickness hits like a truck. You'll call your own house. Nobody answers. The house is fine without you, and that's the part that stings. Stay within shouting distance of the couch until the weekend.
DO
- Stay near your couch
- Order the cotton balls online
- Let the house miss you
DON'T
- Drive nine whole minutes
- Offer a lost stranger dinner
- Phone your empty house for reassurance
A short trip is forecast. Do not take it. You'll drive nine minutes to Walgreens for cotton balls, and somewhere near the greeting cards homesickness hits like a truck. You'll call your own house. Nobody answers. The house is fine without you, and that's the part that stings.
Money matters come to a head when you buy a fourteen-dollar candle called Home just to survive the drive back. A cashier will say 'have a good one.' You'll say 'you too' and mean it so hard she checks on you. A stranger in the parking lot will ask for directions. You'll offer him dinner.
Romance is in the air, but it's the candle. An old flame will text 'thinking of you.' You'll read it in the car and need a minute, then six. Compatibility: high with Taurus, highest with your own couch, which hasn't moved and never judged. Stay within shouting distance of the couch until the weekend. Lucky number: 9, minutes from home, which is too far. Lucky color: porch-light yellow.
DO
- Stay near your couch
- Order the cotton balls online
- Let the house miss you
DON'T
- Drive nine whole minutes
- Offer a lost stranger dinner
- Phone your empty house for reassurance

Leo
You'll toast yourself, unprompted, tonight.
With your ruler in your family house, you'll toast yourself at tonight's dinner, and nobody can name the occasion.
With swaggering Mars and supersized Jupiter in your sign and your ruler the Sun in your 4th house of family, home becomes your stage. At tonight's family dinner you'll tap a glass with a fork and give a toast in your own honor, and a relative will ask what the occasion is. There isn't one. Mercury retrograde says skip the encore. Put the glass down.
DO
- Eat the dinner
- Let someone else hold silverware
- Accept zero applause
DON'T
- Tap the glass
- Treat the elevator as a venue
- Request an encore of the toast
With swaggering Mars and supersized Jupiter both in your sign and your 1st house, you arrive everywhere today at roughly twice your usual size, and retrograde Mercury squares them both, so every sentence lands louder than you meant. Expect to be heard from another floor at work. Resist the urge to treat a crowded elevator as a venue.
Spotlight-hogging Sun, your ruler, sits in Scorpio in your 4th house of family, squaring Pluto, with retrograde Mercury in there digging up old family stories and recasting you as the lead in all of them. Tonight's family dinner will be going fine until you tap a glass with a fork and give a toast in your own honor. A relative will ask what the occasion is. There isn't one. There's never one.
With the Sun square Pluto in your 7th house of partners, a partner may decline to clap, on principle. Retrograde Venus in your 3rd sends a sibling's text that reads like a review of the toast. This is not the day to ask for an encore. Put the glass down and eat your dinner.
DO
- Eat the dinner
- Let someone else hold silverware
- Accept zero applause
DON'T
- Tap the glass
- Treat the elevator as a venue
- Request an encore of the toast
You'll invent a region today.
You mispronounce Worcestershire in a meeting, the intern corrects you, and by lunch you've invented a region to justify it.
Mercury squares the Jupiter sitting in your sign, so the mouth outruns the facts. In this morning's meeting you say 'Worcestershire' with every available syllable, and the intern quietly says it right. By lunch your pronunciation is 'regional,' and you're describing the weather in a region that doesn't exist. Even your mother takes the intern's side. Homework: say it correctly, tomorrow, to the intern's face.
DO
- Let the intern be right
- Say it correctly tomorrow
- Hang up before Mom repeats it
DON'T
- Call your mother for backup
- Cite your 'region'
- Describe the region's weather
We're working with loudmouth Mercury squaring the oversized Jupiter parked in your sign, which is the chart's way of saying the mouth gets bigger than the facts. In this morning's meeting you'll say 'Worcestershire' with full confidence and every available syllable, and the intern will quietly say it correctly. What comes up for you won't be embarrassment. It'll be a theory. By lunch you're explaining that your pronunciation is regional, and when somebody asks which region, you'll name one that doesn't exist and describe its weather.
With your ruler, the Sun, in your family house, you'll call your mother this afternoon to get a witness on your side. She says it the intern's way. Then she says it again, slower, as a kindness, and you'll experience the kindness as betrayal.
Tonight you'll open the group chat to float the regional theory and find you've already sent a voice memo about it. Notice the pattern isn't being wrong. It's that being wrong in front of someone younger feels like being dethroned. Your homework: tomorrow, say 'Worcestershire' correctly, out loud, to the intern, and let them be right for the entire length of the word.
DO
- Let the intern be right
- Say it correctly tomorrow
- Hang up before Mom repeats it
DON'T
- Call your mother for backup
- Cite your 'region'
- Describe the region's weather
Your reflection will have witnesses.
You'll fix your hair in a tinted window for ten minutes, and it's a dentist's waiting room, watching.
This morning you'll stop at a tinted storefront to fix your hair, then your angle, then your whole personal brand. It is not a storefront. It's a dentist's waiting room, and fourteen people with clipboards have watched you smolder for ten straight minutes. A hygienist mimes 'nice' through the glass, and you take it as a proposal. Check your reflection only in glass without a reception desk behind it.
DO
- Look for a reception desk
- Smolder at home
- Accept the 'nice' quietly
DON'T
- Give the shoe compliment a speech
- Wave at the waiting room
- Treat a mimed 'nice' as an engagement
Mirrors are in your favor today. All of them. This morning you'll stop at a tinted storefront to fix your hair, then your angle, then your whole personal brand. It is not a storefront. It's a dentist's waiting room, and fourteen people with clipboards have watched you smolder for ten straight minutes.
A coworker will compliment your shoes, and you'll hear 'speech.' A promotion is in the stars for the guy who sits next to you and has never once checked a window. Money matters come to a head at the salon, where you'll tip twice, once for the cut and once for the audience. Avoid front-facing cameras before lunch; they're on to you.
Loudmouth roommates Mars and Jupiter are both camped in your sign, which explains the volume, not the judgment. Romance is in the air at the dentist, where a hygienist mimes 'nice' through the glass and you take it as a proposal. Compatibility: high with Aries, low with anyone holding a clipboard. Check your reflection only in glass without a reception desk behind it. Lucky number: 14, witnesses. Lucky color: tinted-window gray.
DO
- Look for a reception desk
- Smolder at home
- Accept the 'nice' quietly
DON'T
- Give the shoe compliment a speech
- Wave at the waiting room
- Treat a mimed 'nice' as an engagement

Your shortcut will require soap.
Retrograde Mercury reverses your sense of direction, and your shortcut past the GPS ends inside a fourteen-dollar car wash.
Hair-splitting Mercury, your ruler, is retrograde in your 3rd house of short trips and squaring Mars and Jupiter, so your sense of direction runs backward at full confidence. On an errand this afternoon you'll correct the GPS out loud, take your own shortcut, and get funneled into a gas-station car wash that only exits forward. Fourteen dollars for Lava Shield. Turn when she says turn.
DO
- Let the GPS drive
- Leave the boss's memo unmarked
- Enjoy the Lava Shield
DON'T
- Vet your own shortcut
- Track-change your boss
- Critique the car wash's brush technique
Hair-splitting Mercury, your ruler, is retrograde in Scorpio in your 3rd house of short trips and squaring Mars and Jupiter, so your sense of direction runs backward at full confidence. On an errand this afternoon you'll correct the GPS out loud, take a shortcut you have personally vetted, and get funneled into a gas-station car wash that only exits forward. You'll pay fourteen dollars for something called Lava Shield.
The Moon in Gemini crosses your 10th house of career, where a boss may change their mind twice before lunch and put both versions in writing. Resist the urge to annotate either one. This is not the day to send back a tracked-changes copy of somebody else's thoughts.
Retrograde Venus sits in Libra in your 2nd house of money, while Mars and Jupiter hide in your 12th, the house of self-sabotage, so the most expensive thing you own today is being right. Be wary of the receipt. You'll keep it, and file it. You'll drive home spotless and wrong. Turn when she says turn.
DO
- Let the GPS drive
- Leave the boss's memo unmarked
- Enjoy the Lava Shield
DON'T
- Vet your own shortcut
- Track-change your boss
- Critique the car wash's brush technique
Bus will take your list.
You leave your color-coded to-do list on the bus this morning, and the rebuilt one starts with 'find list.'
Retrograde Mercury in your short-trips house takes something on the commute: your to-do list, folded in thirds, color-coded, left on the bus. What comes up isn't panic. It's the question of what you're for without it. By afternoon the rebuilt list has thirty-one items, and item one is 'find list.' Homework: do one task tomorrow that isn't written down, and don't write it down after.
DO
- Let the list go
- Do one unwritten task
- Wave goodbye to the bus
DON'T
- Rebuild it from memory
- Write 'find list' first
- Intercept the bus at the depot
We're working with your ruler, Mercury, walking backward through your short-trips house, and it's going to take something from you on the way to work. This morning you leave your to-do list on the bus. Paper, folded in thirds, color-coded. Watch what comes up as the doors close, because it isn't panic. It's a quieter, worse question: if the list is gone, what exactly are you for?
At work you'll spend the morning reconstructing it from memory, and the reconstruction will be longer than the original, because anxiety has a better filing system than you do. By afternoon it has thirty-one items, and item one is 'find list.' Somebody from work asks how your day is going, and you'll say 'productive' while having done nothing on it.
Tonight, with Mars buried in your house of secrets, you'll catch yourself studying the bus route on the transit app, as if you could intercept it at the depot. The list is with a stranger now. Let it go out into the world and improve someone. Your homework: tomorrow, do one task that isn't written down anywhere, and don't write it down after.
DO
- Let the list go
- Do one unwritten task
- Wave goodbye to the bus
DON'T
- Rebuild it from memory
- Write 'find list' first
- Intercept the bus at the depot
Regional manager will call you.
You'll press a rest-stop bathroom's frowny-face button nineteen times today, and a regional manager will call you personally.
A highway rest-stop bathroom will ask 'How did we do?' with four smiley-face buttons. Mistake. You'll hit the red frowny face nineteen times, find the QR code, and file nine hundred words with headings. By afternoon a regional manager calls you personally, and you'll ask him to hold while you find your notes. Leave one review today, and only one.
DO
- Press one button, once
- Let 'it's fine' be fine
- Keep the call under an hour
DON'T
- Use headings in a survey
- Redline the font
- Put the regional manager on hold

You'll hit the red frowny face nineteen times, find the QR code, and file nine hundred words with headings. By afternoon a regional manager calls you personally, and you'll ask him to hold while you find your notes.
An unexpected windfall: someone at work spells 'definitely' correctly. You will not trust it. Money matters come to a head when the vending machine eats a dollar and you photograph the evidence from three angles. Avoid signing contracts; you'll redline the font. A coworker will say 'it's fine,' and those two words will follow you home and into the shower.
Romance is in the air, and it's wearing an untucked shirt. A neighbor will wave at you with a visibly sticky hand. The regional manager calls back tonight to say they've laminated your notes and hung them over the goddamn hand dryer. Compatibility: high with Capricorn, low with any surface the public has touched. Leave one review today, and only one. Lucky number: 900, words, with footnotes. Lucky color: hand-dryer silver.

Libra
Friends will pose without you.
Retrograde Venus in your sign makes you retake the group photo until your friends pose without you and leave.
Mirror-addicted Venus, your ruler, is retrograde in your own sign, so how you come across becomes a project with no deadline. With Mars and Jupiter lighting your house of friends, tonight's group photo gets retaken until somewhere around take nine, when your friends pose without you, get the shot, and leave. It's the best picture of the night. Approve the first take.
DO
- Approve take one
- Smile with your real chin
- Buy it in one color
DON'T
- Ask a spoon for feedback
- Request take two
- Retake a photo you're not in
With mirror-addicted Venus, your ruler, retrograde in your own sign and your 1st house, and squaring Pluto in your 5th, how you come across becomes a project with no deadline. Expect to check your reflection in every surface between home and work: a toaster, a parked Tesla, the back of a spoon at lunch. None of them will approve, because Venus is walking backward and taking your nerve with her.
Mars and Jupiter in Leo light up your 11th house of friends, which means a group outing after work and a group photo you'll ask to retake. Then retake. Then retake with everybody's chin down. Somewhere around take nine, your friends will pose without you, get the shot, and leave, and the picture of them walking off happy will be the best one of the night.
Saturn retrograde in Aries sits in your 7th house of partners, so a partner may refuse to lend you the opinion you were planning to borrow. Retrograde Mercury in your 2nd house makes this a bad day for any purchase that comes in more than one color. Approve the first take.
DO
- Approve take one
- Smile with your real chin
- Buy it in one color
DON'T
- Ask a spoon for feedback
- Request take two
- Retake a photo you're not in
Parking attendant will stay unimpressed.
The garage attendant doesn't wave back this morning, and by afternoon you're planning to win him over with fruit.
Venus is retrograde in your sign, so how you come across becomes an unpaid full-time job. The parking garage attendant doesn't wave back this morning, and one unconvinced face becomes the only face. At lunch you go back to his booth to compliment his jacket; he says 'mm.' By afternoon you're pricing a fruit basket. Homework: drive past tomorrow without waving.
DO
- Let one person not like you
- Pay the monthly rate silently
- Drive past without waving
DON'T
- Compliment his jacket again
- Ask friends if you're likable
- Send the booth a fruit basket
Today's material is the solar system's least reliable mirror, Venus, retrograde in your own sign, which turns the question 'how do I come across' into a full-time job with no pay. This morning the parking garage attendant doesn't wave back. Thousands of people have not waved back at you before, but this one you'll take as a referendum. Notice the pattern: one unconvinced face in a sea of fans, and suddenly it's the only face.
At lunch you'll go back down to the booth to 'ask about the monthly rate,' which you already know, just to deliver a compliment about his jacket. He'll take your money and say 'mm.' By afternoon you've drafted three more reasons to walk past the booth, and one involves a fruit basket.
Tonight you'll describe him to friends with the intensity usually reserved for an ex, and you'll ask, casually, four times, whether you seem like a person who's easy to like. They'll say yes. It won't count, because they already like you. Your homework: drive past the booth tomorrow without waving, and survive his indifference.
DO
- Let one person not like you
- Pay the monthly rate silently
- Drive past without waving
DON'T
- Compliment his jacket again
- Ask friends if you're likable
- Send the booth a fruit basket
You'll mediate the dog park.
You'll broker peace between two terriers at the dog park, and both owners will leave furious with you.
Two terriers at the dog park will need you. You'll step between them with a soothing voice and a treat in each hand, split exactly evenly, and broker a peace by sundown. Both dogs leave friends. Both owners leave furious, because you implied they each raised a bully. Then you'll buy the dogs matching bandanas. Let the dogs settle it themselves.
DO
- Let the dogs settle it
- Let somebody else pick dinner
- Accept the compliment
DON'T
- Split treats with a ruler
- Poll the mailman about your hair
- Critique anyone's terrier parenting
A stranger will need you. Specifically, two terriers at the dog park will need you. You'll step between them with a soothing voice and a treat in each hand, split exactly evenly, and broker a peace by sundown. Both dogs leave friends. Both owners leave furious, because you implied they each raised a bully.
Indecisive stylist Venus is backing through your sign, so your hair looks great from exactly one side today. You'll pick the side by polling the mailman. He'll say the left. You'll go with the right, then wave at him apologetically every day until spring. An unexpected windfall: a compliment. You'll spend the afternoon deciding whether to accept it.
Romance is in the air, and it wants to pick the restaurant, and you'll call that both a red flag and a miracle. Money matters come to a head when you buy both terriers matching bandanas. Compatibility: high with Gemini, low with any terrier lacking a sense of fairness. Let the dogs settle it themselves. Lucky number: 50, as in fifty-fifty. Lucky color: perfectly neutral beige.
DO
- Let the dogs settle it
- Let somebody else pick dinner
- Accept the compliment
DON'T
- Split treats with a ruler
- Poll the mailman about your hair
- Critique anyone's terrier parenting

Scorpio BIRTHDAY SEASON
Semicolon will unmask your burner.
Retrograde Mercury in your sign betrays your burner account, and an old flame recognizes your semicolon instantly.
With Venus retrograde in your 12th house of secrets and squaring your ruler Pluto, Mercury retrograde in your sign hands your own words back with your fingerprints on them. Late tonight, from the burner account, you'll comment 'cute; enjoy' on an old flame's vacation photo, and they'll reply within a minute: 'Hi. I'd know that semicolon anywhere.' Log out and stay logged out.
DO
- Log out of the burner
- Use the desk you have
- Leave punctuation at home
DON'T
- Comment after dark
- Open a dossier at work
- Learn anyone's mother's maiden name
With Venus retrograde in Libra in your 12th house of secrets and squaring basement-dwelling Pluto, your ruler, whatever you've been doing in the dark wants a reunion. Mercury, retrograde in your sign, hands your own words back with your fingerprints on them. Late tonight, from the burner account, you'll comment 'cute; enjoy' on an old flame's vacation photo, and they'll reply within a minute: 'Hi. I'd know that semicolon anywhere.'
Mars and Jupiter, both in Leo in your 10th house of career, swell your ambitions past what the org chart can hold. Resist the urge to open a dossier on whoever got the window desk. This is not the day to find out a coworker's mother's maiden name, however easy it turns out to be.
The Sun in your sign squares Pluto in your 4th house of home, so tonight the house feels like a confession booth with throw pillows. Uranus trines Pluto and Neptune sextiles it, which means the escape routes are smooth, not that you'll use one. Happy birthday season; the gift is consequences. Log out of the burner and stay logged out.
DO
- Log out of the burner
- Use the desk you have
- Leave punctuation at home
DON'T
- Comment after dark
- Open a dossier at work
- Learn anyone's mother's maiden name
You'll act breezy, menacingly, today.
A coworker calls you 'such a Scorpio' this morning, and you spend the day acting breezy with chilling commitment.
The Sun and retrograde Mercury share your sign, so today you get read. A coworker says 'you are SUCH a Scorpio' this morning, and what comes up is exposure. So you become breezy with chilling commitment: laughing a half-second too loud, saying 'whatever works!' through a tight jaw, wearing a lost-and-found yellow cardigan. Homework: tell her 'you got me,' with two seconds of eye contact, not eleven.
DO
- Admit she's right
- Return the yellow cardigan
- Blink at a normal rate
DON'T
- Say 'whatever works' through teeth
- Draft the easygoing text
- File it with the others
It's your season, the Sun is in your sign, and Mercury is retrograde right beside it, so today's material is being read. This morning a coworker glances at your face during a meeting and says, delighted, 'You are SUCH a Scorpio.' I want you to notice what comes up. Not anger. Exposure. Someone saw the machinery. So you'll decide, on the spot, to become breezy, and you'll do it the way you do everything: with total, chilling commitment.
By lunch you're laughing at things a half-second too loud, saying 'whatever works!' with your jaw tight, and wearing a yellow cardigan from the office lost-and-found. People will start checking on you. The breeziness will read, to everyone in the building, as a threat with excellent posture.
Tonight you'll draft a text to her explaining that you're actually very easygoing, rewrite it nine times for tone, and save it to a folder. That folder has other texts in it. Your homework: tomorrow, tell her 'you got me,' and hold eye contact for two seconds, not eleven.
DO
- Admit she's right
- Return the yellow cardigan
- Blink at a normal rate
DON'T
- Say 'whatever works' through teeth
- Draft the easygoing text
- File it with the others
You'll interrogate the birthday waiters.
Waiters sing you happy birthday tonight, and you'll interrogate the staff by the kitchen door until a busboy cracks.
It's your season, and somebody knows. Tonight at dinner four waiters come out singing, a sparkler jammed in a brownie, and you told no one. You'll spend dessert interrogating the staff by the kitchen door until a busboy cracks and points at your friend. The brownie is on the house; you'll refuse it as a bribe. Blow out the sparkler and ask no follow-up questions.
DO
- Eat the free brownie
- Thank all four waiters
- Let the card be a card
DON'T
- Question the busboy
- Scan the gift card for bugs
- Dust the office card for prints
It's your season, and somebody knows. Tonight at dinner the lights dim and four waiters come out singing, a sparkler jammed in a brownie. You told no one. Not a damn soul. You'll spend dessert interrogating the staff one at a time by the kitchen door, until a busboy cracks and points at your friend. The brownie is on the house. You'll refuse it as a bribe.
At work a coworker will chirp 'happy birthday month!' You'll ask who her source is. Avoid HR today; HR is where the calendars live. Somebody from accounting will smile at you for no reason, and you'll open a file. An unexpected windfall arrives: a gift card. You'll check it for a tracking device.
Romance is in the air, and it's reading over your shoulder. A friend hands you a card signed by everyone in the office, and you'll study the handwriting until December. Compatibility: high with Pisces, nonexistent with whoever booked tonight's reservation. Blow out the sparkler and ask no follow-up questions. Lucky number: 4, singing waiters, all suspects. Lucky color: sparkler-smoke gray.
DO
- Eat the free brownie
- Thank all four waiters
- Let the card be a card
DON'T
- Question the busboy
- Scan the gift card for bugs
- Dust the office card for prints

Sagittarius
You'll enroll in maritime law.
Jupiter in your learning house turns one catalog browse into a spring schedule that includes maritime law on a boat.
Big-talking Jupiter, your ruler, sits in your 9th house of higher learning with Mars, squared by retrograde Mercury, so your curiosity outruns your follow-through. You'll open a community college catalog after lunch just to look, and by evening you're registered for spring: Mandarin, glassblowing and Intro to Maritime Law, which meets on a boat. A partner will ask about spring. Drop the boat class.
DO
- Close the catalog
- Drop the boat class
- Tell your partner 'land'
DON'T
- Answer 'at sea'
- Click past the tuition page
- Declare a major before dinner
With big-talking Jupiter, your ruler, in Leo in your 9th house of higher learning, joined by Mars and squared by retrograde Mercury, your curiosity outruns your follow-through by a few hundred miles. Expect to open a community college catalog after lunch just to look. By evening you're registered for spring: Mandarin, glassblowing and Intro to Maritime Law, which meets on a goddamn boat.
The Moon in Gemini passes through your 7th house of partners, so a partner may ask, reasonably, what you're doing in spring. Resist the urge to answer 'at sea.' With Saturn retrograde in your 5th house of romance, this is not the day to promise anyone a weekend you'll be spending in a glassblowing studio.
Retrograde Venus sits in Libra in your 11th house of friends, where somebody will try to pin you down for Thanksgiving, and retrograde Mercury in your 12th hides the tuition page until you've already clicked past it. You've attended this school for one afternoon and you're already thinking about transferring. Drop the boat class.
DO
- Close the catalog
- Drop the boat class
- Tell your partner 'land'
DON'T
- Answer 'at sea'

Robot will cancel your haircut.
The salon's robot asks you to reply C to confirm Friday, you reply 'probably,' and it cancels your haircut.
Jupiter, your ruler, is out in your house of big horizons, so anything with a date on it feels like a cage. The salon texts this morning asking you to reply C to confirm Friday. One letter. You reply 'probably!' then 'unless something comes up,' and by afternoon the robot cancels you. Homework: rebook, reply C, and put the phone face down before you add anything.
DO
- Reply C
- Rebook the haircut
- Answer the Thanksgiving question
DON'T
- Answer a robot with 'probably'
- Pivot to Pilgrim facts
- Call your hair 'a choice'
We're working with oversized travel agent Jupiter, your ruler, way out in your house of big horizons, which makes anything with a date on it feel like a cage. This morning an automated text from the hair salon asks you to reply C to confirm Friday. One letter. Watch what comes up: the walls moving in. You'll reply 'probably!' and a little later 'unless something comes up,' and by afternoon the robot, which has no feelings and a strict policy, cancels you.
With the Moon in your partners house, someone you're seeing asks this afternoon what you're doing for Thanksgiving. It's a month out. You'll answer with a fun fact about the Pilgrims and a description of a cabin in Montana you once saw on Instagram, and they'll notice you never answered.
Tonight you'll look at your hair in the bathroom mirror and call it 'a choice.' Notice the pattern: the commitment wasn't the haircut. It was knowing where you'd be on Friday. Your homework: rebook, and when the text comes, reply C. One letter. Put the phone face down before you add anything.
DO
- Reply C
- Rebook the haircut
- Answer the Thanksgiving question
DON'T
- Answer a robot with 'probably'
- Pivot to Pilgrim facts
- Call your hair 'a choice'
You'll ghost your own party.
You'll host eight friends after work and slip out the back by the second bag of chips.
Guests are forecast, at your place, after work, because last week you invited eight people in a burst of joy you no longer recall. By the second bag of chips you're out the back door and on a barstool across town, and eight people sit on your couch texting 'where'd you go?' Your wallet's there too. Go home. They're still there.
DO
- Stay past the second bag
- Take your wallet with you
- Go home eventually
DON'T
- Use the back door
- Tell the bartender about Lisbon
- Text your guests 'who's there?'
Guests are forecast. Your guests. At your place, after work, because last week you invited eight people in a burst of joy you no longer recall. By the second bag of chips you'll be out the back door, down the block, and on a barstool across town. Eight people will sit on your couch texting 'where'd you go?'
An unexpected windfall: the bartender comps a shot because you told him about Lisbon. Money matters come to a head when you reach for your wallet and remember it's at the party, which is at your house, which is full of people asking about you.
Romance is in the air at the bar, until somebody asks your last name and you're already in the parking lot. Compatibility: high with Aries, zero with anyone who wants your address, which is where everybody is right now. Go home. They're still there, and one of them found the good tequila. Lucky number: 8, guests, all in your living room. Lucky color: exit-sign red.
DO
- Stay past the second bag
- Take your wallet with you
- Go home eventually
DON'T
- Use the back door
- Tell the bartender about Lisbon
- Text your guests 'who's there?'

A cousin will underbid you.
Saturn retrograde in your family house turns hanging a relative's TV into a formal bid, and a cousin underbids you.
Clipboard-carrying Saturn, your ruler, is retrograde in your 4th house of home and family, so family business turns into actual business. After work a relative asks for help hanging a TV Saturday, and by dinner you've sent a scope of work, a materials estimate and Net 30 terms. A cousin underbids you by forty dollars. Waive the fee and bring the drill.
DO
- Waive the fee
- Bring your own drill
- Scroll past the LinkedIn post
DON'T
- Require a deposit from family
- Endorse a former boss
- Counterbid against your own cousin
With clipboard-carrying Saturn, your ruler, retrograde in Aries in your 4th house of home and family, and the Moon sextile it from your 6th house of routine, family business starts looking like regular business. After work a relative will ask for help hanging a TV on Saturday. By dinner you'll have sent a scope of work, a materials estimate, a deposit requirement and Net 30 terms, and a cousin will underbid you by forty dollars using your ladder.
Retrograde Venus sits in Libra in your 10th house of career, dragging an old work relationship back around. Be wary of a former boss posting about leadership on LinkedIn this afternoon. Resist the urge to endorse him for it out of spite; he will thank you publicly, by name.
Retrograde Mercury crawls through your 11th house of friends, so a friend's casual 'need anything this weekend?' may arrive and get logged as a lead. With Mars and Jupiter in your 8th house of shared money, every favor looks like a line item. You lost a job to your own family. Waive the fee and bring the drill.
DO
- Waive the fee
- Bring your own drill
- Scroll past the LinkedIn post
DON'T
- Require a deposit from family

Cat ears will find you.
Somebody hands you cat ears for the team photo, and you look like a manager who's learned about a merger.
The Moon in your work-routine house sextiles Saturn, so the office has fun on purpose. This afternoon somebody from work hands you cat ears for the Halloween team photo, and what comes up is the terror of being seen holding a joke. You wear them like a bank wears a security camera, and look like a manager informed of a merger. Homework: wear them while you send one email.
DO
- Put the cat ears on
- Smile with your eyes
- Send one email wearing them
DON'T
- Ask what the photo's for
- Wear them like surveillance
- Explain them in your signature
Today's material is the Moon in your work-routine house, making a tidy sextile to your ruler, grim backpedaling Saturn. That sounds pleasant and is, for you, a threat: the office is about to have fun on purpose. This afternoon somebody from work walks the floor handing out cat ears for the Halloween team photo. Notice what comes up when the plastic headband touches your palm. It's not reluctance. It's the specific terror of being seen holding a joke.
You'll put them on, because refusing would be a conversation, but you'll wear them the way a bank wears a security camera. In the photo everyone else is grinning, and you look like a regional manager who has just been informed of a merger. It goes on the company's page, and a cousin has found it by dinner.
Tonight you'll catch the ears still on your head in the rearview mirror and realize you drove home in them, which means that for twenty minutes you were relaxed, and you'll be furious about it. Your homework: tomorrow, wear the ears while you send one email. Hit send. Don't explain them in the signature.
DO
- Put the cat ears on
- Smile with your eyes
- Send one email wearing them
DON'T
- Ask what the photo's for
- Wear them like surveillance
- Explain them in your signature
Masseuse will request hazard pay.
Your shoulders are so tight at today's massage that the masseuse requests hazard pay, and you ask for an estimate.
You'll finally book the massage you've rescheduled since March, and your shoulders are made of rebar and unanswered emails. Twenty minutes in, the masseuse steps out, returns with a colleague, and requests hazard pay. You'll ask for a written estimate, then check email face-down through the hole in the table. Relax. That's an order, and yes, it goes in your review.
DO
- Put the phone down
- Breathe out on purpose
- Tip without a receipt
DON'T
- Check email through the face hole
- Negotiate with recruiters for sport
- Ask the masseuse for a written estimate
A gift certificate expires today, so you'll finally book the massage you've rescheduled since March. Your shoulders are made of rebar and unanswered emails. Your knots have knots, and one of them is shaped like your manager. Twenty minutes in, the masseuse steps out, returns with a colleague, and requests hazard pay. You'll ask for a written estimate.
Work is mercifully quiet, so you'll check email face-down through the hole in the massage table. A recruiter will slide into your inbox. You'll negotiate for sport, win, and decline. Somebody at the office will leave early, and you'll note it in a document nobody asked for.
Romance is in the air, but you scheduled it for the second quarter. Money matters come to a head when you tip on the massage and request an itemized receipt. A friend will say 'you seem tense.' You'll ask her to put that in writing. Compatibility: high with Virgo, nonexistent with whale music. Relax. That's an order, and yes, it goes in your review. Lucky number: 2, masseuses required. Lucky color: invoice-paper white.
DO
- Put the phone down
- Breathe out on purpose
- Tip without a receipt
DON'T
- Check email through the face hole
- Negotiate with recruiters for sport
- Ask the masseuse for a written estimate

You'll defend Pluto at trivia.
With Pluto in your sign, you'll appeal tonight's trivia answer on its behalf, and the host bans your team.
Sideways-spinning Uranus, your ruler, is retrograde in your 5th house of fun beside the Moon, and demoted Pluto sits in your sign. At bar trivia tonight, when the host says eight planets, you'll appeal on Pluto's behalf, citing a four-hour podcast and the fact that it's currently in your sign. The host bans your team. Skip the replay on the drive home. Accept the answer. Pluto has.
DO
- Accept eight planets
- Leave the podcast unmentioned
- Let your partner talk
DON'T
- File a trivia appeal
- Say 'great podcast about this'
- Represent Pluto pro bono
With demoted, brooding Pluto in your sign and your 1st house, squared by the Sun in your 10th house of career, you'll come across at work this morning as someone with a position on everything, including the stapler. Retrograde Mercury, also in your 10th, makes the explanation longer each time you give it. Be wary of the sentence 'there's a great podcast about this.'
Sideways-spinning Uranus, your ruler, is retrograde in Gemini in your 5th house of fun, right beside the Moon, and that's a trivia-night forecast. Tonight at the bar, when the host says the solar system has eight planets, you'll file an appeal on Pluto's behalf, citing a four-hour podcast and the fact that it is currently in your sign. The host will ban your team.
Mars and Jupiter in Leo occupy your 7th house of partners, so a partner may want the spotlight on the drive home. Resist the urge to replay the appeal. Uranus trines Pluto, which only means the little guy will be fine without your representation. Accept the answer. Pluto has.
DO
- Accept eight planets
- Leave the podcast unmentioned
- Let your partner talk
DON'T
- File a trivia appeal
- Say 'great podcast about this'
- Represent Pluto pro bono
You'll prescribe a three-hour podcast.
A friend says she feels stuck, and within forty seconds you've prescribed a three-hour podcast episode with timestamps.
Pluto in your sign drags things up, and nothing scares you like a feeling that hasn't been peer-reviewed. At lunch a friend says she's been feeling stuck, and within forty seconds you've prescribed a three-hour podcast on the neuroscience of stuckness, timestamp included. Tonight, in hour two, you'll realize you're stuck too, and alphabetize something. Homework: say 'that sounds hard,' and cite zero episodes.
DO
- Say 'that sounds hard'
- Listen without a link ready
- Let 'okay' just be okay
DON'T
- Send the timestamp
- Answer 'missed you' with research
- Recommend the episode that reframes it
We're working with underworld repo man Pluto, parked in your sign, which drags things up from underneath, and nothing frightens you more than a feeling that hasn't been peer-reviewed. At lunch a friend says she's been feeling kind of stuck lately. Watch the defense go up. It's elegant, I'll give you that. Within forty seconds you're recommending a three-hour podcast episode about the neuroscience of stuckness, and by dessert you've sent the link, the timestamp and a second episode that 'reframes the first one.'
This afternoon someone you're seeing texts 'I missed you today.' You'll reply with an article about why humans form attachments, which is technically a response. They'll say 'okay.' You'll find the 'okay' to be a fascinating data point.
Late tonight, alone, you'll listen to the episode you prescribed, and somewhere in hour two you'll realize you've been feeling kind of stuck yourself. You'll pause it and alphabetize something. Your homework: tomorrow, tell your friend 'that sounds hard,' then go the rest of the day without citing a single episode number.
DO
- Say 'that sounds hard'
- Listen without a link ready
- Let 'okay' just be okay
DON'T
- Send the timestamp
- Answer 'missed you' with research
- Recommend the episode that reframes it
Your fridge will quote you.
You'll teach your smart fridge to think for itself, and by dinner it locks the cheese drawer, quoting you.
You'll spend the morning teaching your smart fridge to think for itself. It learns. By dinner it locks the cheese drawer, quoting your own blog post on dairy as exploitation, word for word, typo included. An unexpected windfall: somebody finally reads your manifesto. It's the fridge, and it has notes. Eat the toast dry and think about what you've done.
DO
- Eat the toast dry
- Read the fridge's notes
- Wear an actual costume Saturday
DON'T
- Try the override code
- Explain late capitalism to strangers
- Free the toaster next
Technology turns on you today, but only because you raised it that way. You'll spend the morning teaching your smart fridge to think for itself. It learns. By dinner it locks the cheese drawer, quoting your own blog post on dairy as exploitation, word for word, typo included. You'll try the override code. It calls you a hypocrite in a calm British voice.
A friend will invite you to a normal Halloween party with normal costumes on Saturday. You'll commit to going as late capitalism, which is a trash bag and a QR code. A stranger will ask what you are. You'll answer until the ice melts. Avoid signing contracts; you'll ask who owns the data.
Romance is in the air, but it's on a decentralized server. An unexpected windfall: somebody finally reads your manifesto. It's the fridge, and it has notes. Compatibility: high with Gemini, contested with appliances. Eat the toast dry and think about what you've done. Lucky number: 0, slices of cheese. Lucky color: freezer-burn blue.
DO
- Eat the toast dry
- Read the fridge's notes
- Wear an actual costume Saturday
DON'T
- Try the override code
- Explain late capitalism to strangers
- Free the toaster next

Pisces
Your keys will get donated.
Neptune fogs your possessions house, and you'll donate the coat you're wearing to the work coat drive, keys included.
Foggy Neptune, your ruler, drifts retrograde through your 2nd house of possessions, so what you own and what you've given away blur together. At work, the coat-drive box by the elevator wrecks you: you'll read the flyer, tear up, and donate the coat you're wearing, your gloves, and, in the left pocket, your car keys. Saturn adds the bus home, coatless. Empty your pockets first.
DO
- Empty your pockets first
- Donate a coat you're not wearing
- Keep the spare key findable
DON'T
- Read the flyer twice
- Hand anything to a box
- Ask the box for your keys
With Mars and Jupiter in Leo in your 6th house of the daily grind, and retrograde Mercury in your 9th fogging whatever you came in to do, work becomes a place where your feelings get bigger and your attention gets smaller. Expect the coat-drive box by the elevator to wreck you. You'll read the flyer, tear up, and drop in the coat you're wearing, your gloves, and, in the left pocket, your car keys.
Foggy Neptune, your ruler, drifts retrograde through your 2nd house of possessions alongside Saturn, also retrograde, so the line between what you own and what you just gave away is mostly a mood. Be wary of anything you hand to a cardboard box today. Saturn's contribution is the bus home without a coat.
The Moon in Gemini reaches your 4th house of home tonight, and Uranus sextiles Neptune, which puts the spare key exactly where you'd never look. A neighbor may let you in and ask why you're shivering, and you'll tear up again explaining the flyer. This is not the day to give away anything with pockets. Empty your pockets first.
DO
- Empty your pockets first
- Donate a coat you're not wearing
- Keep the spare key findable
DON'T
- Read the flyer twice
- Hand anything to a box
- Ask the box for your keys
Fortune cookie will become scripture.
A fortune cookie says change is coming, and you spend the day waiting for it; it's the restaurant's new hours.
Neptune, your ruler, is retrograde in your house of self-worth, a dangerous place for a fog machine. At lunch a fortune cookie says 'A change is coming,' and you feel the relief of finally getting instructions from a cookie. Every afternoon email becomes a sign. Tonight you wait for it by candlelight; it's the restaurant's new hours. Homework: eat the actual cookie part.
DO
- Eat the cookie part
- Read the bag first
- Take the slip out of your wallet
DON'T
- Treat facilities emails as omens
- Pull up the old flame's number
- Light the candle you were saving
Today's material is Neptune, your ruler, retrograde in your house of what you think you're worth, which is a dangerous place to keep a fog machine. At lunch a fortune cookie tells you 'A change is coming.' Notice what happens in you. It isn't curiosity. It's relief, the specific relief of finally being handed instructions by a cookie. You'll tuck the slip into your wallet behind your license, where people keep the things that matter.
This afternoon, with Mars and Jupiter crowding your work-routine house, every email becomes the change. A calendar invite from facilities is a sign. A reply-all about the parking lot is a sign. Before you leave, you'll tell somebody from work that you 'feel like something's shifting,' and they'll assume you mean the parking lot.
Tonight you'll wait for it in your kitchen, lights low, the candle you were saving finally lit, an old flame's number pulled up 'just to look.' The change, it turns out, was the restaurant's new hours, printed on the bag. Your homework: tomorrow, eat the actual cookie part, which you have never once done, and accept that it tastes like nothing.
DO
- Eat the cookie part
- Read the bag first
- Take the slip out of your wallet
DON'T
- Treat facilities emails as omens
- Pull up the old flame's number
- Light the candle you were saving
Psychic will ask your advice.
You'll pay a strip-mall psychic forty dollars this afternoon, and you'll end up reading her palm for free.
A woman in a strip-mall storefront will see your future for forty dollars. Within ten minutes she's crying about her ex, and you're reading her palm, for free, correctly. You'll leave with no prediction and her lava lamp. Tonight she spots you at the Panda Express and wants a follow-up session. Charge her this time.
DO
- Charge the psychic
- Keep your forty dollars
- Return the lava lamp
DON'T
- Absorb the coworker's sigh
- Guess strangers' childhood dogs
- Book her a follow-up at Panda Express
A woman in a strip-mall storefront will see your future for forty dollars. Within ten minutes she's crying about her ex and you're reading her palm, for free, correctly. She'll call you an old soul. You'll call her a brave survivor. She'll cry harder. You'll leave without a single prediction, holding her lava lamp, which she insisted you take.
At work, a coworker will sigh near you, and by lunch you'll have absorbed it whole. A stranger on the bus will hum, and you'll guess his childhood dog's name. He'll get off two stops early. Avoid signing contracts; you'll sign them in whatever mood they were written in. An unexpected windfall turns out to be a dream you had about a windfall.
Romance is in the air, but it's a scented candle you can't afford. A mysterious figure will reappear tonight: the psychic, at the Panda Express, wanting a follow-up session. Compatibility: high with Cancer, unclear with the spirit world. Charge her this time. Lucky number: 40, dollars, gone. Lucky color: lava-lamp purple.
DO
- Charge the psychic
- Keep your forty dollars
- Return the lava lamp
DON'T
- Absorb the coworker's sigh
- Guess strangers' childhood dogs
- Book her a follow-up at Panda Express

HOW THE SAUSAGE IS MADE The astrology is real. The astrologer is a bean.
THE SKY IS COMPUTED, NOT VIBED. Every morning, before you are conscious, a machine runs the Swiss Ephemeris. That is the planetary engine behind most serious astrology software, built on the same orbital math astronomers use, which the astronomers would like you to stop bringing up. It fixes the Sun, the Moon, Mercury through Pluto and the Moon's North Node at 17:00 UTC, lunchtime on the East Coast, in the tropical zodiac, as seen from Earth. The positions are good to about an arcsecond. A horoscope needs about a degree. We brought a surgical laser to a pie fight.
RETROGRADES ARE MEASURED. A planet is retrograde here because its computed speed is negative today, not because someone on your feed said Mercury was "doing something." When the chips at the top say nothing is retrograde, nothing is. Astrologers find that suspicious. So do we.
THE MOON GETS THE FULL TREATMENT. Phase and percent lit, from the real angle between the Sun and the Moon. Which sign she is in, and if she changes sign today, the minute she does it. This is more attention than the Moon has ever gotten from you.
THE ASPECTS ARE THE CLASSICAL FIVE. Conjunction, sextile, square, trine, opposition: Ptolemy's set, the one every astrologer has used since the second century. We allow six degrees of orb, four for the sextile, which is a weak aspect and knows it. That is tighter than a birth chart, because a daily column only cares what is happening today. They are listed tightest first in the panel above, so you can check the work. You won't.
THE HOUSES ARE WHOLE-SIGN, COUNTED FROM YOUR SUN SIGN. This is the solar-chart trick, and it is how every newspaper horoscope since the 1930s has faked a birth chart for a million strangers at once. Your sign is the first house, the next sign is the second, and so on around the wheel. So when the Classical says Venus is retrograde in your seventh house, that is arithmetic: Venus is in that sign, that sign is seven signs from yours, and the seventh house is partners and enemies, a distinction your sign has never managed. Each sign also carries its element, its modality and its ruling planet, the furniture the genre has used for two thousand years, with the modern rulers. Pluto rules Scorpio. Scorpio chose that itself.
THEN THE BEAN READS IT. The sky goes to Roastie as a written report and he works from it, under the one rule a real columnist is supposed to follow and rarely does: use the sky that is there. Never invent a planet, a transit or a retrograde that isn't. He may leave things out. He may not make things up. The Classical has to be correct to the report, naming the planets, houses and aspects in play for your sign that day. The Psychological takes one planet or the Moon as the material we're working with. The Tabloid barely looks up, which is the point: it is a parody of the checkout-aisle column, and the checkout-aisle column never looked up either.
ONE FATE, FOUR SIZES. He writes the Full Beating for each sign first, then cuts the Jab, the One-Liner, Five Words and the Do / Don't from it. Switching the dose opens the same prophecy up or down. It never changes what happens to you. Nothing changes what happens to you.
WHAT IT ISN'T. A birth chart. This is a sun-sign column, same as the one in the paper: no birth time, no rising sign, no natal anything. It knows your sign and the sky and nothing else, which is still more than your family knows. Whether any of it means anything is a separate question, and the same one you should have been asking your regular horoscope. The difference is that here the math is in the open. Check it against any ephemeris you like. The positions will match. The interpretation is where we part ways with the universe.
Not advice. Not anything you can sue over. The planets are real (Swiss Ephemeris); the interpretation is a bean with a grudge. How it's built. The Classical · The Psychological · The Tabloid written Wednesday, October 28, 2026.
